American Afternoon with Ron Kuby Thursday May 22nd 2008
Barack Obama moved a bit closer to wrapping up the nomination as he is less than 70 delegates away. Hillary Clinton is vowing to push on and possibly take the fight to the convention in August. Barack Obama continues to focus on the general election and taking on John McCain. Obama also seems to be having a bit of an issue with certain communities. Ari Berman, from The Nation, will join Ron Kuby in HOUR ONE to talk about it.
Kicking off HOUR TWO will be guest Taylor Marsh. Taylor Marsh is a Clinton supporter who maintains the major blog site for Clinton fans and expert analysis on all election-year topics, including the results of the ongoing Presidential primaries.
Also joining Ron in HOUR TWO will be David Wilhelm. Wilhelm is a political operative and businessman. Wilhelm is best known for managing campaigns for President Bill Clinton, Senator Paul Simon, Senator Joe Biden, Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich and Chicago Mayor Richard M. Daley. Wilhelm is a 2008 super delegate to the Democratic National Convention. He is supporting Barack Obama's candidacy and is informally advising the Obama campaign. Wilhelm is a venture capitalist who focuses on spurring sustainable economic growth in areas that tend not to receive much investment.
Closing out today’s show will be guest Daniel Lazare. Lazare is the author of, most recently, The Velvet Coup: The Constitution, the Supreme Court, and the Decline of American Democracy. He is currently at work on a book about the politics of Christianity, Judaism and Islam for Pantheon. Lazare has written for the Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, The Village Voice, Harper's, Dissent, Le Monde diplomatique, and New Left Review. He is the author of The Frozen Republic and America's Undeclared War.

Biases
My mom, an old Jew who luckiily isn't an American citizen, just a green card holder, is terrified of Obama, and says he is affiliated with Farrakhan-when I say he isn't, she tells me I have been reading too much propoganda! I suspect her peers feel the same way about Obama.
As for Guilllini marrying his 4th cousin, I am surprised Ron is shocked-Jewish law allows marriage of first cousins, and I believe(ick) girls can marry their uncles. Religions are all just silly cults, no matter how entrenched in culture.

By Lunare1May 22, 2008 - 3:43pmThis show is worse than Lionel!
Dear lord I did not think it was possible but Mark Green managed to find a radio host worse than Lionel! Congratulations Mark Green. I guess you should go ahead & hire him permanenently since this is the future of AAR: Get rid of all the good hosts & hire a bunch of Lionel & Ron Kuby hacks..... We miss you Sam Seder!!

Amen to that comment-why is Mark Green even having these stupid tryouts? And what criteria are he using to pick the new host? Sam should have had this job automatically, but I fear Karen is right.

BTW:
"Hillary Haters" as a generic term for those that find her unscrupulous politicking abhorrent is fallacy. It could be Burson-Marsteller (linked to the McBush camp) that's feeding her the Rovian KOOL-AID, but you know she wouldn't drink it without bubba and The House of Saud's blessing.

By SingSingMay 22, 2008 - 5:30pmBARACK HUSSIEN OBAMA
I thought Air America thinks of their hosts and the comments they make as being truth no lies no hiding facts. I am so curious as to why everyone including Ron Kuby is denying the fact that Obama is a Moslem are you embarrassed of his heritage?(May 22 2008)
Early
in his show. He was talking to someone about Barack. He said people around here
still think he is a Moslem. And Mr. Kuby laughed. I thought this was a well read man. He has defended a lot
of Moslems. He knows the rules. It does not make a difference what Barcak becomes religiously.
He will always and forever be a Moslem. If you are born of a Moslem father you are Moslem forever. So why is everyone hiding this Koran based fact. Would they deny a son of a Jewish mother. Would he hold the same rules for him. I don't think so. Ron Kuby would repeat over an over again
that he was a Jew.
Even though the son of a Jewish
mother was never raised with his mother became another religion
denyed denyed denyed his Jewish heritage. Oh I think this would not slip by Mr. Kuby. So why is this fact slipping by Mr. Kuby and all the other intelligence. It's a curious question. Maybe one day I will get the answer. I am not holding my breath.

Speaking of (lack of) intelligence (I believe you meant to use the right-wing pillory, "intelligentsia"), you seem incapable of distinguishing between ones paternity or in the case of Jewishness, maternity, and what one believes philosophically/theologically. The first, one can't change the second one can change. But, as you've demonstrated your anti- and un-intelligence, I'm sure I'm just wasting my time "casting my pearls before a swine." Besides, I'd have to define all the large words for you.

Where do you get your info from. Moslems believe the father carries the relgion.
Jewish believes the mother does. Read about the Moslem relgion you will get it then.
Oh I made a mistake with the word intelligence forgive me. You must be perfect when you type 100 words a min. I bet you make no mistakes. I know leftys that use intelligentsia all the time. Any way. If you put away your anger for a mere moment. I think this is all bullshit. I don't think for one minute you can be born any relgion EVER. I am looking at it from a Ron Kuby who broadcast
from a station from the East Coast when I was there. He had no problem calling out someone who might have been from a Jewish aunt three times removed. He is a phony.
What I am getting at is be honest about him from the start and
the rumours would not start. Yes he can believe he is what ever he wants to believe if you read what I wrote. But the people that made up these rules don't care. You are what they say you are. Try converting in a Moslem country. Not so much fun!
Interesting your opinion of me as a swine.
My I assume you are a loving liberal you know the poor and all. LOLOLOLOLOL
Anger management class for you.

By tellurightMay 22, 2008 - 6:33pmThis is fruitless but -
Yep, it was necessary for me to splain the big words and concepts. You seem to be some kind of absolute bio-legalist determinist, denying any concept of individuality or free-will.
I believe it is more proper to say that it is the cultural membership that is defined either patrilineally or matrilineally, of which religion is only a part. And the determination of cultural belonging is a legal concept in general even if a religious concept in certain specific instances. If you do believe in free-will then one can change ones mind - opinion, beliefs, etc - it doesn't matter what any one else nor any cultural authority says. Nor what external sanctions they try to impose.
I'm not aware that there is any tone of anger in my post. Perhaps a bit of didactic admonition. If you type at 100 wpm (really? You know the mistakes count against speed), then might I suggest you have the time to proof read for grammar and use the spell check, too. It goes a long way towards making your positions clear. Unless you just like to rant, then how one speaks isn't as important as just spewing forth. By contrast, both your posts fairly reek with vitriol and xenophobic hatred. There are none as unteachable as those that won't learn, or, "I know what I know and won't be confused by facts." Which brings me back to my opening point, determinism. It's not a character flaw, you can't help what you "know', or how you "feel" or "act". You were born this way, it's just the roll of the genetic dice. So, what is it, free-will or determinism?
As for the swine quote, guess you ain't familiar with who it came from nor its meaning. And here I am, doing it again.

You can rant all you want. Most people don't listen to all that garb. I understand all that ranting your doing. You are so missing the point. Are you a understanding liberal yes you are. Why not just say to the world my father was a Muslim. I am not . Instead of dancing around the issue. Ron Kuby would not mince words when it came to someone of Jewish heritage. He plays by those rules. Why does he not play by the Muslim rule. Thats all I am saying.
And besides people
only understand what they are familiar with. Look at the Muslim world. They take conversion very
seriously. Its called Murtadd. Look it up!

Ron I used to listen to you on WABC and you were awesome there. You might not be a total lefty hack like some of the other hosts on this network, but thats what I find appealing. You call them as you see them much like Lionel.

By msiebertMay 22, 2008 - 5:23pmPoly
I agree poly should be legal (it is fundy religions that force their idea of morality onto others.. even when thise fundy religions had poly in their history).. Although not for everyone (some people are simply hard wired for monogamy.. or serial monogamy.. one after another).. Modern versions of poly make sense is a number of ways.. gay and bisexual people.. More people to support a household and to watch the children.. Child (and spouse abuse) is possible an any situation (whether a normal traditional arrangement, or poly).. We need to separate the two..

Got through about 20 minutes as an aggregate total between Mon and Thursday. Kuby is unlistenable. Another rich liberal spouting essentially conservative propaganda clothed in his past ACLU-glory. What a shamneful blow hard. Put Sam on and stop screwing around!

By zapplerMay 23, 2008 - 1:09pmLt Paul Rieckhoff: "Keep Your powder dry on the partisanship" OK
Now all we need to do is have Kuby keel hauled for continually dropping veiled attacks on BHO while highlighting the Parsley Hagee MILITANT CHRISTIAN ZIONIST RAPTURE RIGHT credo that McAncient has pseudo renounced of late.
Why Ron mentions the Hammas leadership's off the cuff hopefulness in having anybody but a LIKUDNICK AIPAC SYCOPHANT like Lieberman or the hyena with respect to the HOLY ROLLERS official endorsement of McCainiac, is beyond me. Except that he's a hyena sycophant without a conscience in the mold of Mehlman for the shrub '04.
As far as Kuby's lack of govt service, it's not too late. All those that support the hyena Kyl-Lieberman vote endorsing McBush's BOM-BOM IRAN ditty that is still on the table with the conflagration of US NAVAL forces in the Gulf of Hormuz primed for another USS MAINE Gulf of Tonkin incident, should sign up for something. Even the auxiliary US COAST GUARD which is Chertoff's bailiwick, needs bodies to catch evil doers. CHERTOFF WANTS YOU KUBY ... GO FOR IT!!!
Kuby does movies, REALLY?

By SingSingMay 23, 2008 - 5:57pmHillary Unfit
Hi Ron, enjoyed your show, but disagree with your choice of Hillary. Let me illustrate a point here.
A client is charged with the heinous murder and molestation of a child and selects you as council. You receive the discovery on the evidence from the prosecution and your client gives you his alibi in the form of a report. Because of the nature of the crime it would be politically expedient for you as a lawyer to be done with the case and go through the motions. Would you as a competent lawyer read the discovery report and investigate your clients alibi?
Hillary Clinton chose political expediency when voting to give Bush authority to prosecute a war against Iraq. She didn't feel that reading the National Intelligence Estimate prior to her vote was important in making a decision that would place our military in harms way not to mention 100's of thousands of innocent Iraqi's.
Aside from having terrible judgement, she proved herself unfit to hold the highest position in the land. I want someone who is more interested in serving the American people than advancing her career at any cost.
Regards,
D. Greco

By grecodarrylMay 26, 2008 - 7:15amThe goal of every show on AAR should be improvement
The goal of AAR shows should be improvement for the nation as a whole.
Unfortunately, a group like the DLC seeks even more roll-backs on the health, wealth, and well-being and dreams of the US Citizenry as a whole for the sake of unholy Profit and continued centralization of control in a Power Elite! I am disappointed that AAR is choosing to support the goals of the DLC.
Electing dynasties of elites to the White House election after election is not the way to get our nation back from the multi-national corporations and their bagmen and bagwomen.
This show did little to hold the space for the greater good and did a lot to promote the cause of the Elite Few.
