STATEMENT OF AIR AMERICA RADIO, FROM CHAIR CHARLIE KIREKER
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
April 3, 2008
New York - Air America has suspended on-air host Randi Rhodes for making inappropriate statements about prominent figures, including Senator Hillary Clinton, at a recent public appearance on behalf of Air America in San Francisco which was sponsored by an Air America affiliate station.
"Air America encourages strong opinions about public affairs but does not condone such abusive, ad hominem language by our Hosts," said chair Charlie Kireker.

Randi's suspension
I agree that Randi should be suspended. I sent an email awhile ago stating that I would not listen to her again until after the election because I thought it inapprpriate of her to designate her choice in candidtate. The recent vile words she used about Clinton goes beyond the pale. I thought that she was one woman who would have some degree of consciousness regarding her misogynistic tendencies, but I was wrong.

By ChalcoApril 3, 2008 - 4:05pmKrieker Action Is Despicable And Cowardly!
I believe Air America should be ashamed of itself for OVER-REACTING to the recent comments made by Randi Rhodes in San Francisco. As anyone who has seen the video of her performance can attest to, Randi was clearly doing a “stand-up” comedy routine. Because she used the “F-word” in talking about 2 public figures in her comedy act, she and WE THE LISTENERS are now being punished by her suspension by Charlie Kireker, Chairman at Air America.
I have been listening to Randi for about 8 years and never once has she ever uttered the F-word on the air during the course of her duties on her regular radio job. In fact, until recently, Randi has never even taken sides, selecting one candidate over another, because of her principles of trying not to divide the liberal-based voters.
Now, because of what she said OFF THE RADIO, Air America has suspended her…Shame on you Charlie Kireker! You have clearly violated Ms Rhodes’ Constitutional right to Free Speech. Even though you may have been one of the sponsors for her appearance, a simple statement that you do not condone her public language should have sufficed. Instead, you have silenced one of the only voices on the radio that actually has the nerve to speak the TRUTH about what is going on in the world!
How is it that Vice President Dick Cheney can tell Senator Pat Leahy to “Go ‘F’ Himself” on the floor of the U.S. Senate, with anger and venom and not in jest, and never even be held accountable for his total disrespect of this distinguished person? But, you, Mr. Kireker suspend Randi for doing a comedy act not even aired by your station! What a despicable and cowardly act on your part!

I am shocked and disgusted that Air America would pull Randi Rhodes off the air. Although she was sometimes very irate....she expressed many opinions that others have been afraid to address. She was an important voice, intelligent, informative, direct...

By tcolleenApril 10, 2008 - 9:58pmThen suspend all hosts who take sides.
Hi.
Other Air America hosts took public positions for particular candidates long before Randi Rhodes did. One glaring example was an audio tape that was repeatedly played before the primaries in which George H. Bush encounters Wm. J. Clinton in the white house. In the context of this spot, Hillary Clinton was portrayed as the next president of the United States.
I think that suspending Randi Rhodes until after the election is unfair favoritism as Air America has not made it a practice to suspend regulars/hosts who have taken a position in favor of one candidate or another.
As for charges of "misogynistic" sexism, there are plenty of women around who are less than in awe of Hillary Clinton. Also, I think that Congressman Barbara Jordan (1936-1996) was much more impressive than Hillary Clinton is. Incidentally, I heard Hillary Clinton speak in person several years ago.
Now for my own prejudices. I dislike candidates of either party who seem to think that they are owed either the nomination or the presidency. For me, that was one of the early big turn-offs about Hillary Clinton.

Randi's show is great provides interesting topics commentary and views on the political process and discourse in this country. I understand some of you republicans and Hillary supporters are happy that Randi is suspended. I find that Air Americas line up has become weaker and weaker as time has gone by almost all the original hosts are gone Randi is the last one left that interests me besides Sam Seder. I Pay The young turks Membership fee to hear them on there website. Do what you feel is needed Air America is coming close to resemble the excitement of

By lakeqiApril 3, 2008 - 11:01pmPlease, please move to Fucking France, asshole
You would love it there. Read this:
American culture is everywhere in France, on television (Columbo, The Sopranos), music (Bruce Springsteen, Tracy Chapman), movies (Fill in the number one movie in American here), books (John Grisham). This before mentioning McDonalds, which is just as widespread in France as in America. This makes it hard for me to see the French as anti-American. How can a people so willing to embrace American culture, hate America? The answer is they don't.
Yes, there is a backlash to this embrace of American culture. For example, some demand there be a limit to the number of American films that can play in a movie house at any one time. This view is not widely held and could not be enacted. Why? There wouldn't be enough films for the existing movie theaters!
The Bush Administration is not loved in France. Frequently cited is its present policy on Iraq. The French government took the lead in demanding that war be avoided at all costs. This is a very popular view in France; over 70% of the French population oppose a war. This anti-Bush Administration feeling is not carried over to Americans in general. A distinction is made between the American government and its people.

Randi has become so many of our voices. It's a damn shame that her knowledge, outstanding research capability and her willingness to educate in the most unique fashion is being trumped by a politically incorrect stand-up comedy routine!!! For God's sake, you corporate gurus at Air America are single handedly willing to take this away from us... for what? Political correctness? Bowing to the Clintons? (don't tell me they had no hand in this... their political claws are OUT!!) This is shameful! Randi is a breath of fresh air, whether you agree with her or not, ONLY because she's willing to cut the crap. As a wife, mother of 2 teenagers, registered nurse and an independent thinker... who lives in the midwest and has, along with millions of Americans, been completely traumatized from the multitude of crimes committed by this horrendous Bush Administration..... I demand that Randi be re-instated immediately, be completely vindicated, and allowed to resume her show UNALTERED by political correctness. I'm completely discouraged that voices are being suppressed and the "dumbing down" of Americans continues. I, for one, will cancel my Premium Membership if that's what it takes, and only listen to Mike Malloy on Nova M Radio, or The Young Turks (who recently left Air America voluntarily....wonder why?) You corporate thugs only listen to one God.... Money.

Obama supporters are calling for a boycott of Air America and it's sponsors for the suspension of Randy Rhodes. This is America and even though George Bush has tried his best to make it not so, the constitution is still the law of the land and the first amendment still applies. She was doing a comedy skit in her remarks and I'm sure the Clinton machine didn't like it, but this is America! And just like she has the right to freedom of speech, you have the right to suspend her, and WE HAVE THE RIGHT TO BOYCOTT YOUR RADIO SHOWS AND IT'S SPONSORS UNTIL YOU BRING HER BACK!!! Go ahead and boycott! Do you think that Obama would give up all of the free press he had on the Randi Rhodes show and other media. Randi was out of line, and the Obama supporters are the ones who have caused the divide among Democrats. By Obama pretending that he is not attacking Hillary he has allowed his attack dogs like Randi and others to do it for him without asking them to just "all come together".

You can't call someone a f-ing whore and expect there not to be consequences. (nor can you expect anyone to take you seriously) No one, including Air America, is saying that the point of what she said was necessarily wrong, but the abrasive, nasty, and downright foul language that she used in the process of making her point invalidates whatever she had to say.
Personally, as an Obama supporter, I'm embarrassed to have Randi on my side. Her contributions to this debate in the Democratic party have not been helpful, and the Obama campaign in particular doesn't need this crap.

First it was Mike Malloy and now it is Randi Rhodes. I once had high hopes that we would finally have an AM station to counter the likes of Limbaugh and Hannaty. It is obvious that you do not want to hear any criticism of Hillary Clinton because she is obviously your favorite candidate. Randi did not use the kind of language for which you criticize her on the air. She spoke in front of a San Francisco audience that already knew how she felt about Clinton and i'll bet none of them were offended. Having followed the career of Hillary Clinton, I am totally in accord with every word that Randi spoke. You are cutting off your collective noses to spite your face and I am really sorry not only for Randi but for all of us who will turn off Air America.

I listened to Air America when it first came on in SoCal but after a while i couldn't stand the negativity. Especially from Randi because she came on when i usually got a chance to listen. It sounded like the flip side of Rush and what i wanted to hear after Bush won again was what WE THE PEOPLE were going to do this year. I think educating voters on the issues, elections, victories, history, rights etc would be a better use of the airwaves. I believe what she did goes against what Barack Obama is trying to do and that if you want to get honey you use flowers and for flies, well you know where i am going.

An endorsement of Clinton is an endorsement for death (because of the war and the Iraqi sanctions). And once again you condemn us for words. Wake up, grow up and stop throwing a fit just because your candidate is losing!!!!! I will never listen again until you restore Randy Rhodes. I couldn't even believe when I saw it, that it was supposed to be so offensive. Put a tipper sticker on the show and shove it up your ass!! You people are the true "conservatives." By unfinityApril 4, 2008 - 2:33amSpineless Jerks
I have only two words for Charlie Kireker: Spineless Jerk! I have listened to Randi daily for more than ten years. There is no one on radio who is better prepared and routinely offers brilliant, fact based insight on the issues. She is the only reason I listen to Air America. Until she comes back on ... I won't be listening. Instead, I will contact a couple of advertisers and let them know how displeased I am; writing to spineless jerks like Charlie Kireker is a waste of time.
Although I would not have uttered the comments myself, I listened to them and found nothing offensive in the way she characterized Ferraro and Clinton. We're all big kids and have all heard the "F" word before. Considering the raw, public hypocrisy both of these women have publicly displayed "whore" appears to be somewhat gentle. Regardless of what I think, Air America is in the busy of sharing opinions. To knee-cap Randi for doing it in a way that seems extreme to some curtails free speech. She was not on the air and was in the presence of adults who came to hear what she had to say, not Charlie Kireker.
No wonder Air America is considered a a financial joke. Can you imagine Clear Channel attempting to suspend Rush Limbaugh for making similar remarks at an off-air get together? Randi is your bread and butter. Stop shooting yourself in the foot. An intelligent response by a smart radio executive would have been: we disagree with the comments and she's been reprimanded. Air America is playing checkers while Fox and Clear Channel plays chess. To Mark Green and Charlie Kireker: before you can win you must know what game you're playing.

By nivlanudApril 4, 2008 - 3:26amEnd Randi's suspension
Start thinking like an American and not a supporter of any candidate.
Your feelings about Obama and Hillary have nothing to do with what has happened to Randi. This situation goes way beyond this campaign.
Randi made comments at a private function. She did not make these comments over the air. She did not violate any FCC rules or regulations. Her employer has now suspended her for comments she made in her private life.
Do you think its appropriate for an employer to punish an employee for something she did in her private life? How much control do you want to hand over to employers? Is Freedom of Speech only guaranteed for those people that you agree with? Is that the kind of society you want to live in?
I do not want to live in that kind of society. I implore Air America to do the right thing and bring back Randi Rhodes to the airwaves. As a progressive media outlet, AAR is undermining its own credibility with this move.

Pam,
Randi’s show is about opinions, her opinions, based on the news of the day. You must be looking for opinion based DISGUISED as news of the day. That would be fox news. You know- the one that Hillary’s people find so fair and balanced.
You call her a misogynist. Why? Because she doesn’t support the candidate that happens to be female? Well, if you are supporting HRC based on her sex, you shouldn’t be playing with the adults in the political sandbox.
This race has made it apparent that we as Democrats HAVE moved beyond trivial matters of sex and race and are actually concerned about who the best PERSON for the job is.
Randi’s decision to back Obama, like mine, was made late in the game. Randi based it on math. I decided that four more years of the same old shit would be unacceptable and going back to the same crowd from the ‘90s is not moving forward. You know, moving forward, PROGRESSION, progress, progressive.
You really should look into this concept.
Following your thinking, YOU’RE the misogynist for not supporting Randi.
My only problem with what she said is that it’s insulting to sex workers.

Why is there a line where a talk show host can't express an opinion? Certainly, all hosts take positions on many issues. Is it because some opinions do not correspond with ones own? If Randi were dismissing my candidate, I would most likely be riled, but she does still hammer down on so much conservative shallowness, hypocrisy and intolerance, that I can't think that I would not allow her the latitude of her opinion where it differed from mine . . . and I do, in fact, disagree on some issues that she does rant on, just as I do with Thom Hartmann, two of the best voices on radio in my opinion.
Randi's depth of knowledge and perspective is so invaluable that I am extraordinarily disappointed that it has been muted. She has been serving as a remarkable educator.
Please, give her back the mic. Soon.

I am appalled that Air America would pull a right wing stunt and "squash" freedom of speach. Randi is the backbone of this station and Charlie Kireker and Mark Green should take a serious look at YOUR actions in this situation.
WE the listeners have supported you and pulled Air America out of the depths, I hope you are reading these responses and understand that when we pull our memberships (our expression of freedom) and stop listening to your program, you will understand how much more important our opinion is over yours.
Would you have responded this way if this was said against Barak or McCain?
I think not! If you feel this kind of speech is wrong, use your resources and create a campaign against the blowhards at Fox and the repulsive speech that they use daily ON AIR.

By turboiceviperApril 4, 2008 - 12:35pmThe thing everybody forgets
The thing everybody forgets about free speech, is that popular speech doesn't need protecting. Unpopular speech is what freedom of speech is all about. Don't care about Randi's politics, insults, of offensiveness. The issue is, she's being punished for words. Words spoken in a stand up comedy bit, and not on air. More and more, it seems that the rule of thumb is, you have the right to say anything I agree with. Suspending people, demanding their firing, fining them - it's just a back door method of limiting free speech. Justifying it all by throwing in an 'ism' here and there doesn't change a thing. Do the right thing. Stop the suspension. If you're going to rally behind freedom of speech, deal with being offended every now and then. Anything less, is embarrassing and insulting.

By fiddleboyApril 4, 2008 - 1:08pmre: Randi's suspension
Let me address the comment by Ms. Meeks. Randi did not endorse a candidate for the Presidency until it was apparent that Obama had an insurmountable lead in both the popular vote total and the pledged delegate total; indeed, Randi herself made the case by discussing these totals on air with her listeners.(Apparently, for some of those listeners, facts are stupid things.) The extreme improbability of a Clinton win can be seen by addressing the numbers: according to realclearpolitics.com, Obama's lead is 827,308 in those states with contested primaries. The most optimistic scenario for Clinton is for her to pull off margins of victory of 20-40% in 7 of the 9 remaining primaries(see the ludicrous analysis by Michael Barone at US News&World Reports). How likely is this? Consider the fact that Clinton's largest margin of victory was in Arkansas at 43.8%, a "hometown" vote. With the exception of Oklahoma, Clinton's wins have been under 20%. The Clinton campaign's recognition of this fact has driven their desperate and disgusting tactics. As for Randi's remarks, these were made in the context of a comedy-club style stand up routine, not on air, and were entirely typical of this venue. Her suspension is a cowardly, unjustified act by Air America.

By SenecaApril 4, 2008 - 2:41pmWhat's Good For the Goose
Hats off to Air America for having the fortitude to suspend one of its most popular voices. I'm a regular listener on XM Radio, and I must say that I was not at all surprised to hear the outrageous comments that Ms. Rhodes made about Senator Clinton and Geraldine Ferraro. They were ridiculous, callous, sexist, and mean-spirited, and they were directed at a Democrat! Even after enduring eight years of the Bush oil barons, we Democrats still insist on slaying each other. Ms. Rhodes is certainly not the first one to attack her own party, but the obscene-laced way she did it reflects badly on herself and on Air America.
We look at people like Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, and Ann Coulter and are amazed by their loathing and hatred for those who don't agree with them. And then we turn around and theres Ms. Rhodes doing exactly the same thing about a Democrat running for president.
I agree with Ms. Rhodes on many of her political positions, but I do not like the way she treats callers and listeners. She disrupts, belittles, and berates her callers, and then rants on how her listeners just don't get her. She's not good for Air America, not good for radio, and not good for the political process. I would be happy if she was fired.

Mr. Kireker's statement is a lie. Randi's appearance was not sponsored by Air America, there were no AAR banners at the venue, AAR did not pay Randi's expenses, the local station and its local sponsors paid. Affiliates are not owned by AAR, they are not controlled by AAR, they are not beholden to AAR. Yes, I was there and I asked.
Whether the decision was driven by the newbie Mr. Kireker or by the clueless idiot Mark Green doesn't matter, it reeks of incompetence. The decision to "suspend" Randi was groundless and the longer she is off the air, the longer Air America is without its flagship product. AAR is going to begin losing affiliates, just like they lost their morning and mid-day slots in NYC a couple of weeks ago.
Sadly, Mr. Kireker's investment is headed down the drain and so is Air America. Thankfully, there are options and alternatives for all of the remaining talent to move to new syndications or networks. Maddow will probably move full time to MSNBC relatively soon, Rhodes and Hartmann will move to NovaM or direct syndication. Without those three, there isn't much left for AAR. The affiliates will decide, not Kireker/Green.
RIP AirAmerica

Who could have possibly envisioned an erection -- an election in Iraq at this point in history?

If Randi "Bloody Mary – I Fall Down" Rhodes said that about McCain would she be in the same situation?
Also, since AAR is all but off the air in half the markets, will it matter anyway? *snicker*
Fine time to start getting standards, folks! Just like finding religion as the Titanic's under water!

Ok suspend her if you must but make it for a finite definate period then get her back here because she is deeply missed. As her for voicing her support for Obama, so what, she is a talk show host not a news reporter. Atleast we know her bias unlike some others who just are biased without full disclosure. Bottom line put her back on air sooner than later. We love ya Randi!

AAR hosts should cover a spectrum of views, not a party line. They have different styles, different voices, different perspectives -- why not let it all show? Can you say "gorgeous mosaic"? Talk radio thrives on controversy, so suspending RR is probably good for ratings in the long run, but bring her back soon.
But I do agree with some posters here -- let's save our biggest ammo for the lawless, heartless, brainless GOP. If we need to compare our 2 Democratic candidates, let's do it through the lens of "Here's why my candidate's position on health care will help us beat McCain better than your candidate's position."

This development is very disappointing. An important part of Randi's appeal is her rare blend of knowledge of the facts, her powerful intellect combined with a real and raw passion. Is it surprising that this would happen in front of a "red meat" crowd? How many people are going to lose their jobs because they bend Clinton's nose out of joint? This is politics in America and it can get rough out there. What's important to me now is that we see Randi restored to her format slot as quickly as possible - preferably in days, not weeks. Without Randi, it is difficult to justify the cost of my subscription. She really is Air America's greatest asset.

By OzzinnyApril 3, 2008 - 4:18pmThank you for restoring some standards of decency
I want to commend Air America for taking a stand on this issue. I think that you have
been very generous in the freedom of speech you give your talkers. These comments
by Randi have really gone over the line of decency. I started listening to Air America
programming when it began and Al Franken and Randi were my favorites. I have been
very disappointed with the tenor of Randi's show lately. Her comments about Hillary have
been not fair and often not even factual. I contacted her and gave her documented information and she still continued to repeat the lies. At that point I stopped listening. I remember when Randi was first on AAR, she told her listeners that she would always be truthful in her facts and
that every person will at some point show you who they really are and you should believe them.
Perhaps the saddest thing about this incident is that we may have been shown who she really is and listening to her ever again will be difficult. I wish that she had stayed with her original
promise to stay neutral in this primary because not only has she hurt herself by taking this
road but I feel in some ways she has also hurt her candidate. Someone told me today that you are violating her freedom of speech, but when you work for a company and their success depends on your actions, there is no freedom of speech.

Bravo, she's been shilling for Obama for months, while saying she's neutral. I stopped listening to her because if Obama blew a fart, she'd wind up blaming Hillary. I loved listening to her since day 1, because of her objectivity....but she lost that big time. She's been more divisive in this campaign than either candidate.

By jhyclakApril 3, 2008 - 4:23pmI SUPPORT RANDI
What she says off the air, even at a Green 960 event, should not affect her radio show, especially when she is right. I completely support Randi and her ability to express her truth. What ever happened to free speech in this country, McCain isn't elected yet or did I miss something? I love you Randi and you have my complete support. Thank You for your work.

By bilymApril 3, 2008 - 4:25pmAppalled and Thoroughly Disgusted
I can't say enough times how appalled and disgusted I am after having viewed Rhodes' rant. The double standards in this election are completely unacceptable. I guess I will never understand why this is acceptable and funny or why more ppl aren't offended. She was suspended and rightfully so, now let's actually get the mainstream media talking about the story instead of speculating about who the heck Jimmy Carter is going to endorse--the priorities of the liberals are all screwed up. Let's tear down one of our own and then shout how our party is all about democracy and unity--give me a break, I'm over it. I'm tired of these so called "progressives" bashing our very own and then wanting to turn the hoses on the Republicans whenever they utter a seemingly offensive statement. The Democratic party should take a step back and observe the hypocrisy.

I have long been a loyal Air America supporter, but am questioning that loyalty. Randi did not make those statements on air, but at an off air event. Some may find them inappropriate, but she is entitled to her opinion, and lots of people love hearing those opinions.
I adore Randi Rhodes, and hope that this is a very short suspension, as I will not listen to any Air America shows until she is back where she belongs.

By MsDogiApril 3, 2008 - 4:28pmBring Her Back ASAP!
C'mon now. I just saw the clip of her "ad hominem language" in action. It was a stand up comedy act for crying out loud. The "F" word is used all the time in live comedy. She wasn't on the air. Even our honored VP told someone to "F" off in Congress! She is one of the brightest lights on the air and her voice is crucial to those of us who listen to your channel. BRING HER BACK. Your ratings will suffer every day she is absent. (If she'd have been a man, would the reaction have been the same?) Besides TRUTH is a valid defense . . .

Oh another thing just because one is critical of Clinton does not make one misogynistic, it just means they don't like Clinton and don't think she is the one for the democrats to nominate. An I for one agree - she has run a negative campaign and is bad for the parties chances in November.

By jsiskindApril 3, 2008 - 4:31pmYes...Please Keep Rhodes Off Air America Permanently
She's been tunnel visioned, dishonest and abusive to at least half of the democratic electorate in order to rave on with her own emotionally biased personal agenda...I've been an avid Air America listener since the network began and increasingly come to lose respect for Rhodes to the point where I can no longer stand to listen to her. It's likely that at least half of Air America's long time listeners feel pretty much the same as I do about Rhodes. Keeping Rhodes on Air and alienating half the Dem population would be a bad business move, she f----d up one too many times, she brought this on herself.
Please replace Rhodes with Seder, though Seder supports Obama he's not the slanderous, demeaning shmuck about it like Rhodes is.

By Good4YouApril 3, 2008 - 4:32pmIs the Constitution still in force?
I thought the Constitution was still in force ... even just a little bit?
There is this thing called the Bill of RIghts which says we can say what we want to, especially on our own time ... and in a comedic venue. But Mr. Kireker, please help me find where in the Constitution we are guaranteed the right "not to be offended?" Even if you are Hillary Clinton or Geraldine Ferraro?
Perhaps this is a ploy to fire Randi so you can save some money or please one of the "bigwigs" at Air America? That is so "corporatist" and inappropriate for a "progressive" radio network.
Maybe this is a publicity stunt? In that case, you are doing an outstanding job of p-ssing off a lot of people.
If Air America (and its sponsors) wants to keep listeners like myself, a premium listener, it will immediately reinstate Randi and apologize to her publicly ON THE AIR. Let the listeners, through the ratings, decide if Randi's comment were inappropriate.
Otherwise, I'm sure the Nova M Radio Network, or some other progressive network, would be happy to hire Randi.

By barry1of4April 3, 2008 - 4:32pmwhy punish the listners?
Randi has said repeatedly on-air that she does not like doing the promo events. Air America sent her to do stand-up comedy and that's what she did. Her language on air is always appropriate. We listeners depend on her for information. She has a brilliant mind and it is her faithful listeners that are being punished here. If those running Air America do not know that she is the reason you have an audience what can is say. You are behaving like a sanctimonious high school principal. Get over it. You must know you will not have a station without her.

By sweetreneApril 3, 2008 - 4:34pmRight?!
Like Hillary Clinton or not, there was nothing okay about calling her "a big f----g whore." Sorry. Why people are even trying to justify her comments is beyond me! Let's replace the word "whore" for a word like "n--g--r"--right, exactly what I thought. Are you offended now?? SEXISM IS WRONG--just like racism and just like all of the other "isms." I'm tired of people acting like this type of behavior is okay--especially women. Ridiculous. You don't have to like Hillary, but you don't have to launch personal attacks against her either just to make your point. There are substantive arguments that you can unleash--there should just be absolutely no room for vile remarks such as the ones uttered by Rhodes.

By nybor11April 3, 2008 - 4:34pmRhodes' suspension.
I am a DEDICATED listener to Air America. In fact I bought an XM radio to make sure I could hear it no matter where I am. It was all I could do to listen from time to time to Rhodes. Even my wife, who is a lot calmer than I am, and equally progressive, could only tolerate Rhodes in bits and pieces.
That she could not hold her tongue long enough to let callers-in make their point, (worse when a caller would attempt to remonstrate---Rhodes would just drown the caller out)--was enough to make me turn her off.
Lastly, before I comment on her suspension, I want to say that I found (and so did my wife) her Friday shows commencements by playing Rusty Warren's BOUNCE YOUR BOOBIES, was absolutely obnoxious and demeaning to women.
I am glad Rhodes was suspended. Her indiscreet mouth has gotten her sued at least once (and was she not pushed down on the sidewalk on leaving a neighborhood bar once?).
Frankly, I hope her suspension becomes a termination.
These people who utter such unacceptable ideas or constant streams of profanity or other unacceptable comment, like Mike Malloy, do our progressive cause irreparable damage.
I am happy with Sam Seder (but want him to stop saying "UH" so much).
Thank you for allowing me to post here.

I'm disappointed deeply that the progressives can't toe the line like the right wingers. Rush Limbaugh has said such hideous things about Dems but never gets suspended or even chastised. Yet, in progressive radio land, Randi gets suspended just like David Shuster did for his implication about Chelsea. You people that now run Air America must be beholding to the Clintons or some other big money machine. If this suspension holds I'm likely to not tune in again. I enjoy Mike Malloy and Sam Seder who you also fired from Air America. I guess Rachel Maddow will be the next to get the boot.

I saw the clip of her and it seemed like she was doing "stand-up" in which the standards are...well I don't think there are any standards. I would think that our constitutional right of free speech would prevent an employee from being suspended for something they said on their own time - off the clock. Anyway I miss her and hope she will be back like tomorrow or at the latest Monday. The worst thing about this is that it's reminding me of all those Hillary supporters who call all the radio shows and complain about Hillary bashing-- now they have control over what people say on their own time-not at work-and cause them to be suspended.Question is
"what free speech would Hillary suspend" ? or WFSWHS.
Is this the type of behavior (suspending free speech) we will see if Hillary gets to be president?

By AmandaJaneApril 3, 2008 - 4:36pmThe Clintons Win Again
It is really obvious that the Clinton machine is able to get Air America to buckle and cater to Hillary, when someone takes a stand against her mean spirited campaign. Hillary is looking more and more like Bush and Karl Rove, and God forbid, she makes it to the White House, it will be more of what we have had for the last 7 years. Randi could see this coming, and what happens, she gets muzzled........I have just lost alot of respect for Air America, which apparently is joining the ranks of CNN and Fox.
