Thank you, Air America, for doing the right thing. Good riddance to Randi Rhodes. At least with Randi, you don't have to listen to the full 3 hours of her nasal ranting. If you listen to the first 15 minutes, you can turn her off as she just repeats and repeats and repeats the same thing over and over ad nauseam
The comments she made in her "stand-up" were offensive and equivalent to using the "n" word in regards to Obama. When will women learn to respect and support each other? She doesn't have to be for Hillary, but at least show some restraint. It's obvious she was not a Hillary supporter as she has attacked her from the beginning. It is not Hillary or Obama who is creating discourse in the Democratic Party; it is radio personalities who choose not to treat the candidates equally. It's not their job to choose one candidate over the other (or is it?)

Excuse me Nancy Hayes…3 hours of nasal ranting…do you even know what the truth is…This is about Mark Green’s greed and how AAR radio wanted to fire her be changing her contract…deal with the truth…
If you’re so offended by the words, “Fuck you” then you had better have a talk with Dick Cheney. Using the “N” word is nowhere near what RR said about Clinton and what’s her name.
Using the word, “nigger” means prejudice, murderer, hanging of black people for wanting the same rights as sissy assed white people have.
“Fuck you” does not have that meaning. You don’t have any idea what you are talking about Nancy. Ask any black person the difference between being called a nigger or a fucker. You are a right wing nut job. You don’t have any idea what you are talking about.
AAR used RR night club stand-up to fire her. This is how dishonest AAR really is. Do you think I will renew my subscription to AAR…when pigs fly.

I just want to say that Sam does really good radio. He is as funny as Randi and as smart as Thom. He should be given his own slot daily and I will listen every day. Sam is beginning to get national recognition for his work and has written a wonderful book Fubar. He also is technically very good as a radio show host exhibiting finesse, brilliance and humor. I will miss Randi, but most of all I miss the Air America Radio that I started with in the very beginning with Al, Morning Sedition(the best show on radio). I don't listen to Lionel(too boring and egotistical), I love Thom and Rachel, but Sam is my favorite. He makes personal contact with us in a very kind way from his Sammy cam/im format which solidifies a very loyal following.
I just finished canceling my subscription and now will get my podcast free from
http://www.progressivetalk1150.com/cc-common/podcast.html
Air america needs to figure out an effective business plan and must understand that disloyalty to someone like Sam Seder will yield disloyalty from previous very loyal fans.
Sam deserves a daily show and if he does not get it here, he will get it somewhere else.
Thanks

Two things happened. The first should have been good but because of the second it isn't. The first event is that Randi left AirAmerica. Loud-mouthed and obnoxious is fine as long as you're funny and knowledgeable. Randi was only the first two so please don't cry for her. The problem is that Sam Seder didn't get Randi's gig. Sam is funny and knowledgeable. Sam knows how to talk to RWNJs. Sam is great. Randi isn't even very good. Thanks Air America.

Air American is a radio network that is coming from the viewpoint of the political LEFT. Nobody would actually be ignorant enough to make such a suggestion if they knew that.

Sticking "TV stars" on the radio is not going to make people interested in Air America. Lets face it you need to find radio personalities. Randi Rhodes was a great progressive voice and yes I will be tuning in at Nova to listen to her. Your best replace choice was Sam Seder. I have heard Belzer on Real Time with Bill Maher and frankly not really that impressed. Lionel may have an audience but quite frankly since he replace Sam Seder I have tuned out. By calandraApril 11, 2008 - 11:18amThe thing that's so annoying
is the way these kinds of decisions are always sprung on the public without any warning or explanation, and apparently without any regard for what the listeners actually want. If Sam isn't going to be given this time slot, as he obviously should be, is it asking too much for AA to give us just a HINT as to the reasoning behind this decision? It's as if nobody at AA has even the slightest clue what it means to build a relationship with consumers. This bizarre obsession with secrecy and out-of-the-blue announcements of major (and often unpopular) changes aren't doing AA any favors....

By jzilberApril 11, 2008 - 11:21amI agree
At one time, I was in radio...a lifetime ago. Used to be, stations NEVER explained what they did when people were fired, or contracts not renewed, etc. New people just showed up, and old favorites just disappeared. With the internet, it's been more open...at least for the hosts that are leaving. For the stations, the usually try to maintain a facade of composure, and don't explain anything other than a "change in direction" for that time slot. Not particularly helpful.
With a network like Air America, the decisions are made at various levels, and I assume they just don't feel they need to explain it...or possibly they don't feel they CAN explain it. They are, however, I think missing the point of liberal listeners. They WANT to know what's going on...that's why they are liberals. They care about the "why" behind what's going on.
Seems odd to see Air American taking a page out of the administrations playbook on secrecy, doesn't it?

By goofballApril 11, 2008 - 1:37pmOkay, you're skirting a very delicate issue
You know it always comes down to:
--what entity pays the bills.
--who's signing the paychecks.
--what they want in return for this cashflow.
--is it fair for the sponsors to expect some
"controlled ambience" around their product image?
How much?
--sponsors fear of the unknown label a media may
put upon its product? Sponsors fear and hopes for broad internet exposure backfiring on their investment.
You know it always comes down to money.

By calandraApril 11, 2008 - 11:35amPick your reasons, please
No...stock is down on lower than expected earnings, and forecast earnings being downgraded. Result of consumer spending being down across the board, but especially in durable goods, which GE is heavily invested in.
To break it down to where you can perhaps understand it more easily, the country is now in such debt, and our dollar so diluted by this debt, that Americans can no longer afford to buy like they used to...and so companies that sell large ticket items, like appliances and such, are seeing sales drop.
It has to do with the overall consumer spending and confidence, not with what people think of GE sponsorships.

He's the smartest and funniest host on AAR by far. Hello, I am writing in support of putting Sam Seder on permanently in place of Randi, or mornings 6-9 in place of the Randi rerun. I, & his many other listeners have been waiting for a year now to get him back on a daily program. Now that AAR has TWO open slots he should certainly be put in one of them. We are not interested in listening to celebrities. We are not interested in reruns every morning 6-9. We just want your best host put back on the air, 5 days a week, where he belongs. Please listen to Al Franken, Bobby Kennedy Jr, David Bender, & many others who strongly feel that Sam should be back on 5 days. Yesterday he had over 46000 viewers watching his show live on his website. We are out here & we are many. We will support & follow Sam wherever he ends up.
Hopefully AAR will be smart enough to keep him there & give him a weekday program he has more than earned.
Thank you

When they cancelled Sam's daily show I phoned and emailed, and I certainly wasn't alone, I think all Sam's fan's tied up the phone lines for weeks, but you can see the effect it had...none. I've been a listener from The Majority Report days. That's why I started listening to AAR. But then a few months back it suddenly turned into Air Obama, so I only now listen when Sam is on.
I still can't believe that people think that, at an Obama supported event, and as a representative of AAR and AAR beging a sponsor of said event---that people think what Randi said was acceptable. Perhaps she did it on purpose so she could leave AAR with a bang---albeit of a dubious nature. I mean after all she said there were contract disuputes. Too bad she didn't find a more mature and professional way out of her contract.

Air America has become the Montreal Expos of broadcasting.
Can't keep the same line-up.
Management keeps squandering the talent they have.
Constantly beat up by the rest of the league.
Popularity waning, even in their own home town.
Ownership constantly changing until forced to change the name and start all over with a new identity.
I've been with AAR since before Day 1
(Randi on WJNO years before AAR took flight.) You've lost Maron, Reilly, Winstead, Garafolo, Franken, Malloy, Jim Earle, Kent Jones and now Randi
Sam & Rachel are the only one's left I enjoy. Hartmann doesn't run live on XM or WWRL, so he's out for me as well
I followed Malloy to NovaM and will follow suit with Randi. I believe most listeners and affiliates will as well. Losing the highest rated liberal voice is not a good business move.
I hope Rachel can stay on the air, but she'll survive if all is lost. Since you'd rather put "celebrity guest hosts" on air instead of a proven radio talent like Sam Seder, I weep for the future.

I love The Belz, but not as much as I love Sam Seder. By dbanjoApril 11, 2008 - 12:44pmIf you could put Sam on in Lionel's slot...
Please keep Tom Hartman and Rachel Maddow where they are and give Sam Seder a proper slot.
If you put Sam Seder on in Lionel's slot, I'd gladly listen in the morning. However, please don't put him in Randi's old slot as I'll be listening to Randi on Nova-M at that time.

By chrisreadyApril 11, 2008 - 12:47pmOkay, boneheads, this icy splash is going to hurt a little
Sam is running things in the background around here almost everyday. Chief cook and repairman. Liason. Involved.
Thats the Sam I'm seeing here.
I seriously doubt he has more time to spare for more
than a Sunday Show.
Sam's mark is all over this site. A real asset.
Are you whiners so blind not to see that? I have no
association with AAR. I'm just a by-stander. But what
I have said about Sam here must be close to the mark.
Wake up and smell the opportunities. (splash)

We don't want Sam BEHIND the scenes, you bonehead! Maybe you should wake up and see how much his fans really want to hear him on air. Anyone can run a website. I run several myself. Nobody can be Sam Seder on the air, but Sam Seder.

By SimplyBkuzApril 11, 2008 - 1:11pmMan, you are a thick one
Your numb skull bent my hammer! Wow!
Sam is doing just fine and must be the #1 force around here. But he only has two hands, and only a fool would give up admin control for mere announcer status.
All announcers should occasionally take heed to
alternate voices of contructive critique, rather than
bathe in the constant dreamworld of their surrounding
buttkissers. Call it the "croney cocoon complex".
Sam is free of this. Sam is probably cooler than you know.

By dewbie dubaiApril 11, 2008 - 2:12pmA daily show for SAM SEDER
Are you listening to AAR on the Sammycam? Once again, Sam just said he "is trying to convince the powers-that-be to give him a daily show" !!!!! Pay attention, dewbie dubai. Sam doesn't PREFER to be behind the scenes!

You are not only a by-stander, you apparently did not see Sam's web cast of yesterday afternoon. He wants a daily show, believe me. He'd make the time.

Richard "fuckin" Belzer. How long do you think he is going to stay with your back stabbing ass? I'm disappointed that he chose to bail you out as it is.
It would be great if all of the Obamabots could put our C notes together and purchase a network for our own voice. We Obamabots generate 30 to 40 million dollars a month for our candidate. We could do the same for a national microphone.

By AirheadressApril 11, 2008 - 2:21pmAAR Podcast of Seder
Hey jkeaston, thanks so much for the info and link to green960 so I can continue downloading Sam Seder without having a membership to AAR!! I had a subscription to download Randi, Sam and Thom onto iTunes. AAR has already pulled Randi off the website and doesn't offer a way to download Sam doing Randi's show yesterday [April 10]. BASTARDS! I cancelled my AAR membership this morning. Yes, Sam is behind the scenes at AAR but no one can deny that AAR snubbed him once again for a daily show, which he has often said he would like to have back!!

Your treatment of Randi Rhodes could only be expected by a company whose advertisers include promotions to take advantage of home foreclosures and various republican style get rich quick schemes. Now that Randi is gone, I won't have to endure those trash commercials nearly as much.
