Breaking News: Richardson the next Secretary of Commerce

NBC has just confirmed that president-election Obama has asked Governor Bill Richardson of New Mexico to become the next Commerce Secretary. The official nomination will be announced tomorrow at an 11:40am EST news conference.ABC News has more:

ABC News has learned that in Chicago Wednesday morning, President-elect Obama will announce that he's nominating New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson to be his Secretary of Commerce.

This brings to three the total number of primary opponents Mr. Obama has officially moved to put in his cabinet, including Vice President-elect Biden and Secretary of State nominee Hillary Clinton.

Also, for those of us keeping tabs with the diversity abacus, Richardson will be the first Latino named to the Cabinet.
