McCain Denies Assaulting Sandinista
So now we know, McCain is soft on Communism:
Sen. John McCain has denied the allegation made by Sen. Thad Cochran that he grabbed a Sandinista by the shirt collar in a confrontation that reportedly happened 21 years ago. Sen. Thad Cochran told the story to the Sun Herald this week, saying McCain grabbed an associate of Nicaraguan president Daniel Ortega and pulled him from a chair during a 1987 diplomatic mission.
I am snarking, for those who do not get it.

That't the legendary bad
That's the legendary bad temper--it's really conducive to diplomacy and problem-solving, a real plus for a president with his finger on the "nuclear switch."

MSM will continue to enable the senile bastard, and the public won't find out what a psychopath he really is unless he "wins" the election.

By RobespierreJuly 2, 2008 - 9:17pmSo, lets see, according to talkleft, McCain is
soft on communism, because he didn't assault the sandinista guy, but he's a psychopath, because he did, according to Liberalass, who apparently is also against seasoned citizens, deeming them to be senile. You know, your insults are really starting to get old. Talk about smearing someone. Hey, michtou, don't you think liberalass calling McCain senile is smearing him? Why don't you chastise him for it.

By Kemo SabeJuly 3, 2008 - 12:49amThe definition of
The definition of senile:
of, or relating to old age; exhibiting the deterioration in mind and body often accompanying old age; doddering
en.wiktionary.org/wiki/senile
However...
"Smears often consist of ad hominem attacks in the form of unverifiable rumors and are often distortions, half-truths, or even outright lies; smear campaigns are often propagated by gossip spreading. Even when the facts behind a smear are shown to lack proper foundation, the tactic is often effective because the target's reputation is tarnished before the truth is known."
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Smear_campaign
I think that although calling McCain senile is an ad hominem attack, it is verifiable. He is old, he exhibits the deterioration of mind and body that accompanies old age--for example, he forgets important details and even what he says:

So, is Liberaliconoclast smearing McCain by calling him senile?
I think he's not being nice, especially the way he calls him senile. But I don't think it's a stretch to say McCain is showing symptoms of senility.

By MichtouJuly 4, 2008 - 10:27amI think your justifing bad behavior.
You know it's a smear. Tell me, if you don't consider that a smear, what about Kerry, and the swift boaters? What did the over 250 other swift boaters say against Kerry that would constitute a smear, under your definition, as used above? Be specific? The only thing you have provided about Kerry was whether or not Kerry was under small arms attack when rescueing a fellow soldier, who's boat had been blown up. How is that a smear, but liberalass's comments aren't?
You seem to be a fairly decent person, though partisan, so I would like to hear an honest response.
My point is, not just the one statement by liberalass, but all the comments about McCain, seem to lean toward smearing the man, that are posted on this site. The Kerry thing doesn't even begin to come close to what you people are doing, which seems a little hypocritical to me.

By leftysrsickJuly 3, 2008 - 9:55amof the 250 swiftboaters
only a handful were within miles of the events and NONE were actually on the boat with Kerry. Kerry's account is backed up by the offiial record. So the swiftboaters were not only painting Kerry out to be less heroic than he was, THEY WERE LYING.
It may be debatable whether McCain is truly senile or merely an asshole, but there is no debate about the things that took place. Only the cause.

By gt6July 3, 2008 - 11:50amApperantly you have never read the book
and are relying solely on left wing talking points. The book is not about just one incident, by a cumalation of his service and post service conduct. By the way, how exactly was Kerry smeared in the book? Your people say it was a smear job, but never really answer how you arrived at that conclusion. One disputed incident is not a smear job.

By nonexistent manJuly 4, 2008 - 5:44amLiberal iconoclast has not
Liberal iconoclast has not written book smearing McCain, gone on the air to promote the lies, and been sponsored by a millionaire to spread his belief that McCain is senile.
He has said it in the context of a left-wing blog. It's really his opinion, rather than a smear, because he's not trying to spread it out in the general public to discredit McCain.
I'll bet all kinds of nasty things about Obama are said on right-wing blogs, and most of them will be lies actually started by the right-wing propaganda machine, like Obama is a Muslim, like he's not a citizen, like his birth certificate is fake. These lies are not opinions of bloggers, they are deliberate lies started by a media campaign to smear Obama.

By MichtouJuly 3, 2008 - 11:06amSo, it only counts when you say it does?
And again, what where the smears the swift boaters where guilty of? the only thing you posted was a dispute on one incident, involving whether or not they where being fired upon by small arms fire or not. That's not a smear. Have you actually read the book? Yes or no? I suggest you are relying on left wing talking points to make your case.

I think you haven't read a single one of the links I posted. You simply skimmed them.
The swift boaters were discredited.
I'm not going to read a smear job just to please you. Kerry isn't the issue here.
You'd better have a thicker skin as a troll here if you're going to cry when someone states an opinion, that McCain is senile. It's not like fabricating lies and spreading them on the internet and publishing books with the lies.
The company that published the smear job on Kerry is busily preparing a smear book on Obama. What book is Liberal Iconoclast preparing? Are you going to read that book,.take it as gospel truth, and then repeat its lies?
Of course you are. You're exactly the reason why the GOP uses smear tactics. They work with people like you, with no critical thinking skills, who can't tell the difference between opinion, lies, smears and facts.
