Republicans: It sucks to be us
.jpg)
This is hilarious. How badly must the American public think of your party that you are a sitting Republican Senator and you don't want to be seen at your own Party's convention:
Nine of 12 targeted Republicans running in the most competitive Senate races this fall are either skipping the Republican convention in St. Paul, Minn., or have not decided whether to attend.
Among those who will not attend are Sen. Ted Stevens of Alaska, who is not close to presumptive presidential nominee Sen. John McCain of Arizona, and Sen. Susan Collins of Maine, who is a McCain loyalist. Stevens and Collins will use the convention week to focus on their campaigns.
Hard to know who has more cooties, the Codpiece or Huggy Bear...
The Republican convention will be bookended by speeches from President Bush, whose low approval ratings have caused many candidates to keep him at arm's length, and McCain, who is still trying to mend fences with conservatives. But none of the absentees or potential no-shows is publicly citing Bush or McCain as the reason for their decisions.
I'd say give it three or four more weeks and most of these Republicans will be running to the microphones to publicly cite McCain/Bush as their reason not to attend.
With the stink piled so high at the Minnesota Republican convention who would be desperate enough to attend? (besides, of course, Larry Craig, who apparently has a real soft spot for flying into Minnesota)...
Surprise, surprise, meet the next Zell Miller- though Zell was a Democrat when he spoke at the last GOP convention. Not so Joe.

Joe Lieberman
You it is possible to belong to one party but believe the opposing party candidate in one race is the better. But Joe takes it a step too far. Speaking at the RNC? Come on. Someone who still believed in their party would be supportive in at least some of their parties efforts on some issues.
I wish a reporter would ask Joe how he feels about the outlook for democrats in congressional and senate races in 2008. The democrats look to pick up seats in both houses. How does he feel about that? Is he excited or concerned?

By f u bush2July 25, 2008 - 1:17pmJoe is enjoying his last few moments in the spotlight, like many
repubs, including Bush. Many will be tossed out of office in a few short months, and Joe will no longer be necessary as a swing vote in the Senate. Dems can tell him to go to hell and caucus with his repub butt buddies, because they will have an even bigger majority after November. If he doesn't officially shift to the repub party after November, he'll be the loneliest man in DC. Of course, no matter what he does, he will be kicked to the curb in 2012, to join Grandpa and Hillary.

Here is Newt's history:
Married to Jackie Battley for 18 years. While she was recovering from cancer surgery in a hospital bed he brought up the subject of divorce.
Gingrich had been having an affair with Marianne Ginthe whom he married months after the divorce.
Gingrich has admitted that while leading impeachment proceedings against Clinton, he was cheating on his second wife.
It is the conservatives that paint a picture of "respectability" with these bogus groups like focus on the family while not practicing what they preach.

But then I haven't been promoting "family values" as a party platform have I? I also haven't been trying to impeach presidents for infidelity and using it as a talking point.
YOU are the one that came in here all worked up over the issue.
So now you just learned about Newt. How does it make you feel? Are you going to talk about it? Are you going to say how much of a bastard he is?
Oh yeah - Almost the same thing?. Tell me how it is different? Assuming the story on Edwards is true. It is the exact same thing you dumb ass. How is compassion defined by marital status?
Newt Gingrich was part of the "moral majority" defined in terms of conservative christian values.
And while Gingrich was going after Clinton he himself was having an affair with his second wife. The right wing fully enjoyed the talking points on Clinton's infidelity. They used it as justification of the democrats immorality. It was hypocrisy on display only the ditto heads couldn't see it. Furthermore the discovery of Clinton's affair occurred long after the investigation failed to indict the Clinton's on White Water. It was a witch hunt.
Yes I bring up right wing infidelity and sexual scandal frequently. But to be honest I don't care about that stuff. I simply find the hypocrisy to be quite enjoyable. I rarely criticized Guiliani about his indiscretions simply because he has not been part of this right wing crusade for "family values". However on occasion I did point it out to right wingers because they have held it to such a high regard that I wanted to deflate them.
I know nothing of the personal live of Gingrich or Edwards. I do not see the world in black and white. I understand that people sometimes have failed marriages. In both cases however I am appalled at the timing of these events given the illness of the spouse.

By f u bush2July 25, 2008 - 8:59pmHow is compassion defined by
How is compassion defined by marital status?!?
First off, what does "marital status" have to do with cheating on your wife? I've never seen "single, married, divorced, married but cheating" on any form under "marital status".
Secondly, you don't see any lack of compassion towards his ailing wife in Edwards' actions? If you don't you are either blind or willingly have your eyes closed in order to avoid the obvious hypocrisy.
And once again, they were going after Clinton for PERJURY, you know, the whole swearing to tell the truth, the whole truth, then lying your ass off. You want me to say that Gingrich is a hypocrite base on that? Well, did Gingrich ever lie under oath? NOPE. Sure, he's a hypocrite for the "moral majority while cheating on your wife" bullshit, and yes, after reading up on him I have lost loads of respect for him, but his going after Clinton wasn't hypocritical at all.
Finally, you are damned right I don't want leadership that has cheated on his wife, it shows lack of judgement and control. The president, along with other national leadership, should be the best the nation has to offer. I'm sorry, but being able to sweet talk some whore in a bar may show good speaking abilities, but it sure as fuck doesn't show any decent character or the ability to hold the most important job on the planet. Judgement counts.

By f u bush2July 25, 2008 - 11:57pmFrog:
George Dubya Bush, while governor of Texas, was called to Jury Duty.
He made a big show of filling our his jury questionnaire. But he left blank the question: "Have you ever pled guilty to or been convicted of a crime?"
Then he signed his form, which likely contained a statement to the effect of: "I hereby swar (or affirm) that all of the above answers are true, to the best of my knowledge."
When Chimpy went back to his office and told counsel Alberto "Waterboard" Gonzales what he had done, Gonzales likely shit his pants.
You see, Frog, Shrub committed PERJURY by leaving that one question blank, knowing full well he had pled "no contest" (same as "guilty") to a charge of DWI while in Maine in the 1970s. He lost his drivers license too.
The Torture Czar-to-be had to do some quick legal dancing to save the future president-select from a career-ending conviction for perjury. He went in to the presiding judge, and argued that the sitting governor could not serve on any jury, since he might at some point be called upon to pardon the defendant. Alberto got the prosecutor to join his motion, and while Chimy gave a speech on the courthouse steps about good citizenship, the Chimpster was dismissed as a juror without his questionnaire becoming public.
So, Frog, should Chimpy be impeached for his act of perjury?

John Edwards cheated. I am willing to bet that you have cheated on your wife. Newt Gingrich cheated and so did Bill Clinton. Men have been cheating on their wives since the beginning of time. Cheating on ones wife is not a crime in any state or federal statute. Ordering the wire tapping of American Citizens on US soil without first getting a FISA warrent IS against the law. That is exactly what this county is now. You and your ilk don't have the slightest idea what separates this country from a tin horn Police State like Red China and the USSR now Russia, and Egypt, Pakistan, Iran , Syria, the list is endless. Do you know what separates us, the United States from them? Want a hint? The 4th Amendment. That is the only thing that separates this country from those countries, and YOUR PRESIDENT and HIS RUBBER STAMP Congress have done all they can to destroy that one safeguard. They deserve to be not only impeached but charged with the felonies they committed and put in jail. All of the, Bush, Cheney, Scotter boy, Turd Bloosom boy, the token black Rice, all of them. This right wing troll makes no sense. First he tries to spin the one time Obama doesn't visit the wounded troops into an argument that he never does. I then proceed to educate him on that matter. Then like a typical lying republican he continues to use this as a talking point.
He calls Obama a pussy for not going to see wounded troops. I figure he is upset that the wounded troops are not being seen. Wouldn't it be good if we all shared the pain of a few that are asked to serve again and again because chicken hawks like "its_so_over" keep voting for people that send them there?
I then post a picture of a wounded soldier so we can all see it. Even Obama. And now the right winger is pissed. The right winger is just a dumb ass chicken hawk. First he says Obama is a pussy for not going to see the wounded troops on one occasion. I show a wounded soldier and he calls me "anti-america". Well which is it? By Pookie2112July 28, 2008 - 9:00amHe wasn't caught at any time
I read the story, he wasn't caught anywhere by anyone. It is all hearsay. Read it yourself
http://www.nationalenquirer.com/john_edwards_cheating_scandal/celebrity/...
The woman who is supposedly accusing him won't even talk to the Enquirer. The so-called information is supposedly based on reports of phone calls and emails to friends. It's all second and third-hand reports. I could say that your wife told me via e-mails and phone calls that she is having an affair with McCain. You should put just about as much stock in the story that is in the Enquirer as in my story. IT'S BUNK.

By MadgardnerJuly 25, 2008 - 7:02pmBefore you guys go off and read the Enquirer
Heres a factual, verifiable headline...
"Obama beats McCain in latest Arizona fundraising", and " Zogby poll --Obama leads McCain in Arizona 42 percent to 39 percent"
Who knows better than a hometown crowd when it comes to who they want in Washington.?
Oh the humiliation of it all.

Sooner or later the citizens are be going to be struck by a bolt and realize that every second of every minute of every day their "wealth" is being diminished by inflation and their dollar's turning to dust.
They've been force fed pablum and a blend of bullshit for so long that they no longer can believe their own two eyes. Or ears.
It is always about the money.

By Kemo SabeJuly 26, 2008 - 6:20amDid AAR hear about
the "impeachment" discussion for six hours yesterday? One might think something like this would register at a "progressive" radio network.
Thanks for keeping us informed. Now off to Nova M.

Come on now, Anti.
It registered just enough for one of their leading hosts to make time to ridicule it. Go team go!

By SJerseyIndyJuly 26, 2008 - 8:19amEver notice how armored vehicles
dont have a layer of non-pneumatic liquid between layers of armor?
Like Silly puddy. Something that wouldnt leak out if there was a puncture. But would provide that same impact stopping power of fluid.
Watching Mythbusters and watching water stop bullets and it made me think. OK, how do you get a layer of armor thats liquiiiiii, w-w-w-w-wait! Silly Puddy. Cornstarch and water. It absorbs impact. OK. We can do this. Some sort of Super Puddy. So a heavy armor, around an air bubble with people inside is vulnerable to IEDs. Hell its an eggshell. But if you put evenpressure around an egg its impossible to crush it caus ethe fluid inside. So..... why not layers of steel with this shock absorbing goo in there? Would it not help at all? Youd think there has to be a way.

By chessboxer55July 27, 2008 - 9:08amRepublicans vote against there own self interest
I just watched McCain on Face the Nation. For those that believe McCain has "liberal" leanings, think again.
McCain and George were discussing the plight of children without parents living in institutions. McCain said allowing gays to adopt is morally wrong, only one man and one woman is "morally correct". George kept asking, "Is it better for these children to live in an institution than with loving adults?" "Is an institution better?" McCain kept coming back with only one man and one woman is a "real" family. I have some shocking news from McCain. Gay people come from "real" families, all had a mother and father, and not a single one was "raised gay". Was Dick Cheney's or Alen Keyes's daughters or Phyllis Schlafly's son, all prominent Republicans, raised gay? Does McCain think gays are immigrants???? I bet he has one in his own family. Why does he say such stupid things. I think I know.
AND THEN,
He started going on about "Affirmative Action". I understand the problems people have with Affirmative Action. I have questions about it myself, but for people like McCain and Bush who benefited from Affirmative Action to complain about it is a "McShame". To understand how McCain and Bush benefited from AA you have to define it. AA - a person with less qualifiable ,merits is jumped, for whatever reason, over a person with with a higher "provable" standard. In real terms, someone with worse grades or lessor test results than me has been moved ahead of me.
McShame, based on family connections, whose father and grandfather were Admirals, was allowed into the Navel Academy where he graduated 5th from the bottom out of a class of 899 Cadets. 5th from the bottom out of 899. Four more and he would have been last. The positive spin is that McCain is in the top 99.45%.
Bush jumped over thousands to get into Harvard where he "achieved" a C- average, below average.
On has to wonder if dad ever called and asked, "Could you give him at least a passing grade?", since it was "dad" that initiated the Affirmative Action to begin with.
Republicans vote against there own self interest. The vast majority have no health insurance and live on the brink. They say, "Hey, you can't get mad at guy just because he's rich". No one is getting mad, but is it fair to get ahead based strictly on money and family connections? Doesn't quality come in to play anywhere? Are the ONLY standards money and family connections? Republicans only feel comforatable electing leaders that, chances are, are way less smart than the average Republican voter?

By deanrddJuly 27, 2008 - 11:57amThe best part...
I hear these cons talking endlessly about how the gov't should "clean up Hollywood." Well guess what? If that should really happen, who will be doing the cleaning? That's right! Nut case christians. So, removing Hollywood's "liberal bias" will also mean
