It takes a village to have an idiot - Actor212

Desperate Hillary

Billary sounds desperate, desperate ... The spin on 'fair and NOT balanced MSNBC David Gregory's "panel"' was 4-5 FOR her. She's getting a lot of help from the spin media, but is sounding shriller and shriller and ... desperate.

actually she sounded

depressed and defeated. She is probably looking for a graceful exit that will assure McCain's victory in the fall so she can come back in 2012.

I noticed that when she came out last night to make her

"victory" speech, Bill looked like he knew she was taking her final bow, and the crowd seemed to react in the same way. Even the folks on "Morning Joe" made note of the same thing. The fact that she cancelled all her TV appearances this morning may mean that someone may finally be talking some sense into her, convincing her that fighting on is now counterproductive, not just in terms of the November election, but for her place in the party. She can either keep fighting what is obviously a futile, losing battle, and be seen as a bitter loser, or she can start to re-polish her image by giving in gracefully, and using her obvious power to enhance the party's chances in the presidential and congressional elections. The choice is hers. I hope she makes the right one finally.

But then

she went and borrowed 6 Mill to get through the week. Russert is suggesting she will take the win in WV and then Ky then pack it in. I'm hoping she quits at WV. either way she is done now.

Are you afriad of a woman, or of democracy, or both?

I believe it's called an election, not a projection.

Read 'em and weep

Obama's got the delegates, the popular vote, and more and more of the Supers.

Just because others can see the obvious, does not mean they are "afraid of" a woman, or mysoginests.

And just so you know, American elections have NEVER been about the popular vote (in case you want to argue that MI and FL give Shrillary the Popular vote). The Constitution specifies that the people elect Electors, who elect the president. The House is charged with the responsibility of breaking a tie of the Electors...again, delegates of the people, not the people themselves, elect a president.

Presidential elections are really 50-some separate elections (how many territories can vote anyway?). Shrillary's claim of being more "ordinary" really carries no weight. She should get out and get out now.

Hillary

Do you really think she'll exit gracefully? I find that hard to believe.

Angela

Sure she will!

Just as gracefully as she dodges snipers bullets!

"Bitch may be the new black but black is the new President, bitch."
Tracy Morgan, SNL

If she hopes for

an influential position in the Obama Administration, she'd better find a graceful way to save face while exiting. Maybe she wants a seat on the Supreme Court. Now there will be a confirmation battle in the Senate...

Rival Hillary Rodham Clinton vowed to remain in the race...

..."until there's a nominee."

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080507/ap_on_el_pr/primary_rdp

Good news for anarchists.

So does that mean

until Obama secures the needed delegates, or until a floor fight at the convention?

Candymarl If Hillary

If Hillary supporters don't vote for Obama he's toast. We are not a 1-2% Ralph Nader group. Think about it.

what's to think about?

Hillary is done. If you want to see McCain as Pres then vote for him ar stay home if you think that's enough, it's on you.

So what you're saying is ...

that if Obama wins the nomination, Hillary supporters won't vote for him because he's the nominee and Hillary isn't and it may hand the WH to Mad Cow McBush. Which, by the way, is a great way to exercise your rights as a citizen - cut your nose off to spite your face. Yup, that's real adult behavior.

To the people of the United States:

AFTER an unequivocal experience of the misguidance of the subsisting American government, you are called upon to deliberate on the current condition the United States of America. The subject speaks its own importance; comprehending in its consequences nothing less than the existence of our country, the safety and welfare of the parts of which it is composed, the fate of a nation in many respects the most interesting in the world. It has been frequently remarked that it seems to have been reserved to the people of this country, by their conduct and example, to decide the important question, whether societies of men are really capable or not of establishing good government from reflection and choice, or whether they are forever destined to depend for their political constitutions on fear and force. If there be any truth in the remark, the crisis at which we are arrived may with propriety be regarded as the era in which that decision is to be made; and a wrong election of the part we shall act may, in this view, deserve to be considered as the general misfortune of mankind.

"NOW squeal like a piggy lil boy."

Nice Deliverance reference there...NOT! I hope you donate your body to science, so we can study the negative effects of rednecks inbreeding.

No, it is people like you who hijacked the party years ago with

the Clinton crowd. Clintons are nothing more than Republican Lite, with corporatist policies that go against Democratic party ideals that favored the working man for so many years. It was a cynical attempt to win votes, and it worked well enough to get Bill into office and keep him there for two terms. However, if you go back in time to the early 60s, Clinton's policies would have put him more in line with Goldwater republicans than Kennedy democrats.

As a proud liberal, it is I who feel that my party has been hijacked, and there is no place for people who believe in supporting the middle class over rich corporations and the ultrarich to go. If you are so disappointed in the "liberal" democratic party, it proves nothing but the fact that you really are a closet republican, like Hillary. Like Lieberman, you don't have the guts or honesty to admit this to yourself or the rest of the world, perhaps because the republican party is such a disaster after its takeover by neocons, but you are a republican nonetheless.

If you care to check it out please do. Economically the US and world on whole was a better place. (We do agree George Bush was the worst ever............. period.)
That aside I'll take whatever label you throw at me or the Clinton's (republicrat is fine.)
Name one time or Administration that had a Golden Era like the Clinton's. Certainly wasn't Jimmy Carter, Richard Nixon, Geral Ford, etc.
Not claiming perfection here, but about as good as it gets politically.
Every politician is a sellout. what's the end game? If the end game with Obama in office is making a better republic that game is lost. We are Rome in decline, rotting from the inside out. Get used to it. That's where we are.
One day you may be deluged with alot of money (cold hard cash.) We'll see what you do with it?
Give it away? Try to help other's? Maybe employ other's and put food on their table?
Somewhere in that mix the idealism comes to a halt and reality sets in.
So okay republicrat is fine.......... it'll do. Can I now have 2 bags of rice instead of one?

I'll name one

Kennedy/Johnson. The Clinton boom was slightly longer, largely due to the advances in electronics and to consumer spending based on refinance inflating housing prices (and we know where this got us) but otherwise they were similar.

Rome in decline, get used to it? that's exactly the point. We are in decline because economic policies that say we should become a service economy instead of a producer guarantee that decline.

Moving jobs overseas produces profit for corporations which have no loyalty to the US. That produces short term advantages to the people, but in the long run a never ending downward spiral.

re: gt6

gt6,

wow. Okay you've got good points and I agree moving jobs oversea's is not good, but it is what our economy is based on. Sometime's this bodes well for us and at other times not so well. should we become an isolationist country. Not so sure??? It's been tried in the past with less than stellar results.
The greed is out there no doubt, but I don't think Obama is gonna change human nature. We are a laizze-fare based economy. How do you change a country that is rooted in that?
Not with more social programs and isolationist attitude. maybe just tightening up trade rules and so forth would do it, but th incentive has got to be there for big business or they go elsewhere.
(p.s. I said Kennedy.)

First off...

If you are going to promote laissez-faire, please learn to spell it.

No one said anything about isolationism. Do you not understand that we (meaning society, government, and the private sector) must create jobs to replace the ones that go overseas? If not, the result will be Wal-Marts on every corner full of cheap Chinese plastic, and a citizenry that can't afford even that cheap trash.

Typical republican rant: "ooh, it's those EVIL SOCIAL PROGRAMS!" I've got news for you. It was social programs that built the middle class. We need social programs to rebuild it. Education is a social program...I expect you're against that also?

Same old talking points, different user ID.

You don't have to burn books to destroy a culture. Just get people to stop reading them.
---Ray Bradbury

lib

Social programs used correctly I am all for. Not when you have public schools that can't function.
(Whether it's democrat or republican there are alot of social programs that are failing.)
No doubt FDR's programs were great, but should they be used to dump more money into a rotting pubic school system or abortions............. and well u get my point.
There's no reason many low incme parent's should be abel to get thier children diagnosed with depression so they can recieve an SSI check. Let's use the money wisely.
I hear you tak your game, but I'm sure that almost everything you own is chinese. I never said all social programs are EVIL but many are so seriously misguided that this once very liberal democrat has had to say hold on..... let's get his thing right.
An example of a good social program might be putting money into re-building New Orleans and building a flood system like that of the Dutch. That's putting money to good use.
lazzy-fare............lissy-fare...... wow ....now I know yo're the better man.

New Orleans

Yes, they need a flood system that isn't held up with newspapers. And the Bush administration is refusing to give it to them. And Michigan needs bridges that won't fall down. And Southern California needs a workable alternative to having ten million cars on the freeways. This is the job of government. A nation runs on its infrastrucure, and when everything is privatized or farmed out to the lowest bidder, that infrastructure is done on the cheap, if at all.

I must disagree with the republican view on public education. The problem isn't the teachers or the students. It is money. California's schools led the nation BEFORE 1978 when property taxes were basically eliminated. Now we're just Mississippi away from being dead last! Yes, throwing money at the schools, and cutting back on $90,000 administrative jobs rather than on teaching, will solve most of the problem. Vouchers will make it worse. The $4000 annual voucher proposed by Gov. Wilson would not cover any decent private school; most are around $30,000. What that means is, every church, cult, and fly-by-night Amway distributor would be setting up a completely unregulated "school" that just happened to cost the amount of the voucher. Result: poorly educated kids and more public money in private hands.

I am in favor of smart regulation. Anything else is Social Darwinism. We're past that, I hope.

You don't have to burn books to destroy a culture. Just get people to stop reading them.
---Ray Bradbury

Re: New Orleans

They really need to move the city 40 miles or so upriver to a location that's above sea level. Haven't you heard that the Greenland and Antarctic ice caps are melting, and sea level's rising? How much longer do you expect the useful life of a city that averages minus 10 feet will be?

Reclaiming the wetlands

that have gone to developement over the last 20 years would go a long way here and I'm not ready to give up on reversing global warming just yet. New Orleans was put where it is and grew to be a city all for good reason. The fact that it has been there for 200 years speaks for itself.

You agree that sending jobs over seas is bad

then throw up your hands and say "It's a laissez-faire based economy" like that's OK.
It's not OK and it is not ingrained. It is a direction begun under Raygun and it is reversible. You change it by bringing back the Tariff system that was successful here for more than a hundred years. Not to the point of being isolationist, it's not black and white either/or, but targeted to protect the industries we want to protect.

The incentive to go elsewhere is the one that has to go. Current tax laws reward companies for moving their production overseas and the trade bills reinforce that.

Agreed!

Just not true! The economy was in shambles with Jimmy Carter. My dad lost his manufacturing job prior to Reagan.
Bear Stern's and JP Morgan rule this thing called the US of A. Always has....always will.
I suppose we could have an economy like that of the french or dutch?
Tarrif's are fine, but the big money guys will do whatever it takes to preserve their interest's and thier shareholder's.
Gordon Gecko can attest to this.

The economy was a shambles

throughout the 70s. Richard Nixon spent us into recession in Viet Nam. The dollar crashed in 70 and 71 so bad you could not exchange it for local currency in Europe. I was there. American express would exchange their traveler's checks for you if you had the card, We did, others weren't so lucky. Interest rates were well into double digits before Nixon resigned in disgrace. The housing industry was on it's heals when Ford signed the $2000 tax credit for buyers of new homes in 75. Carter inherited that. Things didn't get much better in his administration but under Raygun they got worse before they got better.

Yes the big money will do what they can to keep it, but that doesn't mean you let them.

re: economy

hey I am no Reagan guy.
Listen....from the jump I was jumped in this blogosphere. You have excellent points which I agree with. Still I am a Hillary guy.
You may ask why? Well...... even Bill Clinton stated that it took his Administration almost 2.5 years to get up and running. We can assume it will take Obama some time as well if elected. Then we have the learning curve (all presdients have that.) And well we don't have the time to waste here.
Okay. You don't like Hillary........swell, but you've gotta believe she'd be able to quickly assemble a staff and get to work, avoiding the lapse in time it took her husband to get his first term in order.
I'm not gonna sacrifice this country so Obama can get 4 years to learn how things work on Capitol Hill. (We've already gonbe the route with GWB.)
I am all for rules and reg's regarding the economy. But where oh where did we get this idea that Obama will cure all of our ills. What great piece of legislation or contribution to society has led us to this conclusion???

the Learning curve

You can assume all you want. Either side will be adjusting to the changes in peronel they bring. It will take some time for both of them. It's not so much learning as it is getting organized. If you have good people it goes well if you don't (as in GWBs case) it doesn't. 7 years and they still don't have it.
I would have supported Hillary gladly if she had one until, in her desperation she started playing the repub with her kitchen sink strategy. When she tacitly endorsed McCain over Obama, I like a lot of people lost a lot of my respect for her.
Obama and Hillary are not all that far apart on a lot of issues. My suggestions on the economy are mine and not necessarily Obama's. He does sound a little less likely to give the corporations what they want in future trade deals than Hillary does.
That said, my reasons for backing him are simple 1)He is slightly less in the pocket of lobbyists than she is. 2)He is more electable than she is. 3)After the way she has conducted her campaign, her loyalty is questionable.
