Obama takes lead in Superdelegates
I’m happy to see my progressive Congressman, Peter DeFazio jump in to endorse Obama. I wonder if he’ll be on hand later today.
As Obama has more strength in the West than he does in the South, I’ve touted our former Governor Kitzhaber as a solid VP candidate. He has a proven record of reaching across the aisle to get legislation passed, particularly the Oregon Health Plan. As a former ER doctor, Kitzhaber has also remained active as a champion of universal healthcare coverage. Consider this innovative aim.
DeFazio was joined by more super endorsements, including a crossover who formerly supported Clinton, so he now takes the superdelegate lead for the first time.
As I predicted Tuesday, the tide of supers committing is growing this week. Two weeks from today, that tide will have grown so strong that Clinton is likely to feel compelled to concede the nomination. Between the post-primary speeches on the evening of 5/20 and the end of that week (5/23), the general election campaign will officially launch.
I hope for both the candidates and their families, a long, luxurious Memorial Day weekend off so they can take a real breather from a long, exhausting and emotionally intense process.
Update: word has it that there’s a lot of behind-the-scenes negotiations occurring now. Discredited journalist and Clinton sycophant Stephanopoulous has been on Good Morning America today still pitching Clinton as angling for the VP slot. I consider that an improbable outcome. Other matters, like Clinton’s campaign debts, delegate seating accords, etc, are more likely, and such negotiations still may not yield an official withdrawal till the 5/20-5/23 period, or perhaps after the 5/13 WV primary, where Clinton could depart on a high note.

Obama said he'd declare victory after the last primary
I don't think we need to wait that long.
Of course after November we will still hear the Hillary supporters calling for the counting of two states that shouldn't count.
They'll call for them t be counted even though it wouldn't help Hillary.

By f u bush2May 9, 2008 - 11:01amAccording to a report on CNN, they expect him to declare
victory as soon as his lead is bigger than the number of delegates left to be won in the remaining contests, which I think will be after Oregon. That would still end this thing by the end of the month. No news yet about whether he will pay Hillary's bribe money to get her support. The idea of repaying her the $11.4 million that she lent to herself just to get her out makes me sick. I hope he rejects the idea. No one should get paid for being a total jerk (although Limpballs seems to have made a killing on it).

By UffdaguyMay 9, 2008 - 11:25amObama declair Victory on May 20th and pick running mate
I am very proud of the excellent campaign that Sen. Barack Obama has run. I am from New England but 2 1/2 years ago took the leap with my wife and moved to Portland, Oregon. My daughers, their husbands, all Oregon residents are jubilant that we are about to see history. Forty years ago, "Moses" went up on the mountain but told us he couldn't go there but we would (eventually). It has taken, like the Hebrew children of old 40 years of 'wandering in the wilderness'. Now "Joshua" is about to take us forward. His name this time is Barack (Blessed One of God).
I feel blessed that his destiny begins once he clinches the Democratic nomination for our selection for Presidential candidate to fight the righteous fight against the ignorance and fear of a generation of Americans.
Sen. Obama will have many issues to address with one of them who will be his running mate.
I have a couple of suggestions: One is Governor Bill Richardson. Bill brings more experience to this important position than many of the potential candidates. He knows how to build relationships on an international level. He has the humility it takes to be the 2nd executive level leader in our Republic. He is a SWestern governor with hispanic roots. He has strong relationships with governors all over the nation as well has strong leadership in western states.
The second choice from my perspective would put Bill Richardson as the Secretary of State, still allowing his lifetime experience and devotion to our country to shine.
The second choice would be retired 4-Star General Wesley Clark. He is a Sen. Hilary Clinton supporter and former Supreme Allied Commander of NATO. He is a real hero, Vietnam, Bosnia. He has a Silver Star, Bronze Star, 2 Purple Hearts and other awards. He graduated 1st in his class at West Point. He knows how to build relationships internationally and he has nation-state leaders who trust him. His presence on the ticket with Barack Obama would squash McCain. He is a southerner (Arkansas). His presence on the ticket affects military and armed force personnel who will trust his leadership. He would soften Hilary's loss. I worked for Gen. Clark in NH back in 2004. He is man, full of compassion. He supports education, cares about the environment, veteran's affairs and is against this illegal war.
Go Oregon, yes we WILL! Our prayers will be Sen. Obama as he and Michelle march forward to November 2008. May God guide his path and protect him as he brings this party and nation together.

Welcome to Portland. Don't forget the under-cards...Jeff Merkely or Steve Novick will make a terrific replacement for Gordon Smith. I like both of them, and I'm honestly having trouble deciding between the two.
(And while you're praying for Sen. Obama, could you toss in a quick appeal for some warmer weather?)

------------------------
Indeed, he is a hero. I give all the credit in the world to General Clark for his service to the country.
But I am loathe to imagine a Clintonista, any Clintonista, being placed on the ticket and thereby placed in the position to do dirty to our nominee. Maybe I have a terribly incorrect feeling/opinion on The Clintons (judging by their actions as of late, though, I'd say I'm pretty much on), but one of their loyal operatives being placed that close to the presidency, in the White House, is a bad and dangerous move politically.
Keep them away from it.

Okay f u,
If the votes in FLA and michigan shouldn't count, then why were ALL OTHER votes counted in regards to state, federal, and referndum issues in these states.
If your argument that these FLA and Mich. primary votes should be invalid then all of those dem's elected on the same day should be null & void as well.
I'm sure the Supreme Court would agree.
What say you? BS aside, can you support your point of view????

There's $5 more to Obama.
I'm tempted to ask my fellow bloggers here to join me in donating $5 to Obama for each of your posts. But if they decide to do so, they will join in on their own and let you know just how much you've raised for him today.
I'm independently wealthy. So have at it, dittotroll..

Go right ahead and toss out ridiculous allegations against Obama. Hufflary,
It's not even worth trying with this group in here. They truly hate the USA. I fear that they may be the new voice of the democratic party.
Most if not all have never served this country in any capacity. Never volunteered their time to the poor or volunteered their time to a local, state, or national campaign.
They revel in their own misery and would truly enjoy an anarchist state, then they'd start to complain about that after a while. I'd love to see them operate in North Korea or Burma. In about three days they'd be hung in the village square.
Beware of folks who shout you down when you disagree with them, folks that belittle you, folks that throw out racial slurs but when it's put back on thier plate they can't stomach it.
This is a fearful little bunch in here and regardless of what happens they'll crawl back into their little holes once they realize America on whole is stronger than their little "search and destroy" mission.
"WE" are the true democrat's. It's good t know that. These are the children of the drug impaired, the sexually abused, and the racially motivated. Soon they'll be passing on their disease to a new generation. Hopefully the drugs will be stronger and take them out with their first hit of meth or injection of heroin.
Every once in a while the dregs of society need to be heard. They've lost their souls and are more or less zombies who still think their alive.

I agree with what the woman said. I remember pointing this out back in Clinton's first term. Yes I'm sure Hilary put a lot of work into a health care plan. But they never did anything after it failed in congress. No modifications, no rallying of public support to try again. Nothing.

She's not dropping until at least May 31, the day of the credentials committee meeting.
That much seems obvious thus far.
What else seems obvious? If she's staying until May 31, she will likely stay until June 3.
Team Clinton wants the presidency. They've been trying for it for years on end.
There is no reason to believe they will simply just give it up and walk away without a fight.
And if she stays until June 3 (and gets a favorable decision at the credentials meeting), there's all the chance in the world she fights it to the floor in Denver.
Especially if FL and MI get seated as a result of that May 31 meeting.
If such should happen (MI and FL seated May 31), you can already hear Team Clinton taking to the TeeVee to declare: "See, we told ya! 2,209! The battle continues!"
I want to participate in the joyful "It's over!" celebration, but I've seen enough of The Clintons to never count them out. Maybe I'm giving them too much credit.
But I'll believe it's over when I see her drop out and Obama gets the number of delegates needed...

Indeed. The only thing I'd mention is that "rightfully" is subject to differing interpretation.
And it has been made painfully clear by them that "rightfully" on Planet Clinton means something entirely different than it does to you and me here on Planet Earth.
I guess my over-arching point is that I am aware of numbers and percentages and money races and delegate counts and conventional wisdom and other realities... one of those realities being that there isn't a nominee until the convention is over and said nominee gave his/her acceptance speech after having received the votes of the delegates needed on the ballot in Denver.
Team Clinton has given me no indications that they believe anything different.

The only question now is "Will you support the democratic nominee?". If not, are you going to act like a petulant child and not vote, or will you vote for Pander McFlipflop? I strongly suggest that if you can't behave like the adult you purport to be, then please stay the hell out of politics or any other adult endeavor until you have the maturity level required to be a thoughtful contributor to the future of the country.

HA HA HA.
I have principles you will never.
I refuse to vote for an obvious chronic liar. If the democratic party promotes Obama I will no longer be in favor of voting for democrats.
Wake up fool!

That's one of the problems with you blind Obama followers, I've been refering to Barack Obama's chronic lying for weeks, if not months.
Why does Obama think America has 58 states?
Shouldn't the 'president of the United States know exactly how many states there are, even in their sleep?

By chilcoMay 9, 2008 - 1:34pmObama's VP Choice
The best kept secret of the primary campaign season? Sen. Obama's short list of VP preferences.
At the top of that list? All you have to do is put one-and-one together after watching Morning Joe on MSNBC this morning: First piece of the equation is that twinkle in his eye when Mika asked Edwards who he voted for/is supporting; he wasn't being coy; he was holding a secret. The second piece of that equation is Sen. Edward's reluctance to endorse at this late date...reason being that Barack asked him NOT to endorse him because if he did, it might appear to be a quid pro quo arrangement to get Edwards on the ticket.
Stay tuned...I believe that one- and -one still equals two -- all it takes to make a ticket.
