McCain Is Making This Too Easy

By American Street

John McCain being in bed with lobbyists is not really news, even when he’s actually, you know, “in bed” with them. His notorious escapades as the most culpable” of the Keating Five would certainly have left a less well connected politician spending more time with his family.

But this one goes way beyond schmoozing and playing the system. Johnathan Singer informs us that McCain tapped one of his lobbyist pals to run the GOP Convention this August, but let him go hours after Michael Isikoff’s Newsweek story disclosed that the guy was the CEO of a firm representing the Burma Military Junta — hired to whitewash their image with Washington insiders.

Singer then connects the dots with a Marc Ambinder note that a McCain Campaign regional manager was the stooge directly in charge of that Burmese (Myanmar) Junta account for the very same influence pedaling firm — and he’s still on the job.

Just calling John McCain a continuation of the Bush nightmare is giving him too much credit. This guy is a wholly owned subsidiary of the corporate kleptocracy. It doesn’t matter if McCain fires this lobbyist or distances himself from that one. He’s so swamped with them another would take take the place of an inconveniently notorious one in a heartbeat.

George Bush sold the American government to the highest (no)-bidder. A McCain administration would represent the new owners taking up residence.

Sold? Nah!

"George Bush sold the American government to the highest (no)-bidder."

I disagree. George Bush gave the government away, and then threw in tax incentives on top of that. And probably bribes, too. Isn't there some 9 billion or so that just "disappeared" in Iraq?

We shouldn't get worked up..

This clown will NOT win this November. The average American is finally smart enough to see through the smoke and mirrors. It was almost a 50-50 split back when the country was knee-deep in terrorist-mania. Just imagine how it will go when you cant simply label an opponent and expect no questions to be asked.

The days of faux-patriotism seem to be fading! Flag pins wont make or break, and Operation Chaos fell flat on its ass. In short, a sopping wet turd could defeat McCain at this point.

"It was almost a 50-50 split back when the country was knee-deep in terrorist-mania."

If that is the case, expect another attack on American interests in the last days of October 2008. Probably won't be an attack on the "Homeland," wouldn't want to have it backfire and cause a surge against the Repugs for failure to prevent it. Maybe an attack on an ally a la Madrid and/or London, right before crucial votes in the US Congress. Something to SCARE the Bejesus out of the NASCAR crowd and bring them back to the "save us from the TERRORISTS!" fold. Or maybe just Skletor telling us his "gut" says something is going to happen.

Edwards Raises Doubts About Clinton’s Chances

WASHINGTON — John Edwards, a former candidate for the Democratic presidential nomination, cautioned Sunday that Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton “has to be really careful that she’s not damaging our prospects” by staying in the contest against Senator Barack Obama.

While Mr. Edwards, a onetime senator from North Carolina, has not endorsed either candidate, he made it clear on the CBS News program “Face the Nation” that he saw little chance that Mrs. Clinton could manage a come-from-behind victory.

“You can no longer make a compelling case for the math,” Mr. Edwards said, referring to delegate totals that increasingly favor Mr. Obama. “The math is very, very hard for her.”
