So Nader's a closet racist who picked last night to come out. He hasn't been especially relevant since he got the Corvair line shut down.

Let him throw his temper tantrum. Maybe next time, the third-party candidate will have learned from Nader's mistakes and put themselves into the race early enough and with enough financial backing to actually make a difference. Nader himself is another also-ran, and will be remembered as such by history.

Nader being Nader!

The man doesn't have handler's so what we see here is Raw Nader. This is the closest I have come to vomiting since the last time I had the flu. The man should be smarter, wiser, more sensitive but he settles for grabbing his 15 minutes in the spotlight by way of poor choice after poor choice after poor choice. Very sad because he was once exalted as someone relevant, visionary and courageous. He sure has pissed that away hasn't he.

I agree with Nader on many things. Many, many things. But I am not in lock step! Nader's either/or postulate, "What is he going to be an Uncle Tom or an Uncle Sam?" is a shot you hurl at the enemy. Does Nader perceive Obama as the enemy? My question is, why doesn't Nader find a more constructive way to pursue his agenda. Here we finally get a President that could prove willing to include us Progressives and independents in the equation, and Nader becomes antagonistic right out of the gate. Why not give President Obama a chance before assuming the worse. Making an "Uncle Tom" reference is beneath contempt!

Have to love Fox's fake attempt at being shocked as if they haven't been pushing the racism every other story for months and months and months. Let's make sure to hold these guys accountable for the past decade and for the venom they have continued to spew day in and day out.

Listen to what Nader is saying. He's absolutely right, other than his gaff. We need to hold Obama to the highest of standards and make sure he doesn't fall into the hands of corporate America as did the Clintons. Nader isn't the best spokesman, but there is a reason Fox is bullying him and trying to play him off as a racist.

I venture to guess that the thrust behind your anger is more that we don't see things as Nader & you see them . You are just not able to review Naders interview objectively. You are not emotionally able to be objective about Nader or his comments. That's Okay, Your loyalty to Nader is commendable. But might I suggest that a true friend and Allie is one that lets them know when they are really screwing up. Perhaps Nader needs some friends to give him an intervention. Oh. My. God! I can't believe some of you guys are actually falling for this junk.

1. It's Fox News, guys.

2. Air America and NovamRadio have been echoing all of the labor movements major concerns about corporate takeover, deregulation, the DNC, and what-not for years now. Rhandi Rhodes and Mike Malloy have gone on record many times for saying how horrible the Telecommunications Act of 1996 (that Mr. Bill Clinton signed into law) was for progressive radio.

Since Rupert Murdoch's corporate news team caught Ralph Nader using ridiculous language and ran with it, of course(!), doesn't mean that Ralph Nader doesn't know what he's talking about. And Nader's correct. I'm glad Barack Obama won, but we need to hold his feet to the fire and keep it lit. Don't throw people like Noam Chomsky, Ralph Nader, Howard Zinn, "green" progressives, labor unionists, punk rockers, hip-hop artists, animal rights activists, environmental rights activists, and even Libertarians out to the fringe like we eventually did during the Clinton era when everyone fell asleep. We can't fall asleep and allow Barack Obama and the majority of Democrats to turn into the corporate deal makers we regret today.

Unfortunately I see it already kinda happening with even Air Americans lapping up Fox News' weird hang-up on Ralph Nader's poor choice of words, not even caring about the full context, kinda like the Republicans we've disagreed with and disliked for the past eight years.

Now that Obama's president doesn't mean the fight is over. Even Obama said that we didn't elect him for him we elected him for us. I HOPE those words are true.

I see no mention of Noam Chomsky, Howard Zinn etc. here except from you. You are clearly missing the point of our critisism--------> Uncle Tom??? Don't you grasp the offense here?? Hell Nader can say whatever he wants but we have an obligation to respond with appropriate displeasure. Okay? Perhaps you have a motive to grow this into a more consequential controversy. No, I was speaking in general. And for the future. I was using Ralph Nader's ridiculously poor choice of words as an example of how easy it is for some Americans to be distracted by details like "Uncle Tom" instead of seeing the full picture, which always seems to throw people like Ralph Nader to the fringe. And I think that hurts our progressive movement. "Uncle Tom" was racist and wrong, to say the least. He even showed some irresponsible defiance. But his overall message is something all Air Americans probably agree on.

Yes. Barack Obama's win is outstanding. I love it. It's terrific! Fantastic! Wonderful! I cheered with joy and yelled out my window, "Barack Obama won! WOOOOOOOO-HOOOOO!!!". I even teared up when I saw the man speak. And, for the first time in my life, I am filled with optimism for the future. However, at the same time, I'm filled with consciousness and skepticism. I HOPE he is another FDR or Abraham Lincoln and not someone we all regret.

Nader said it poorly, but he was right.

But you can't really fault Obama for taking corporate money for his campaign- its the way the system is set up. His election was a major milestone, no doubt about it, but he is still in hock to the pharmaceutical companies- hence the wishy washy almost no change health care plan he has. He is also in hock to the defense industry- hence no real peace plan for the middle east, but an expansion of the war in Afghanistan while the occupation of Iraq continues.
Progressives have been trying to pull the democrats to the left since FDR's day. It still hasn't happened. The only time they have given anything to the average citizen is when the people collectively told them to.
Thom Hartmann was right when he said " voting is not enough."
On a side note, Ralph, you should have stopped with your appearance on the Ed Schultz show yesterday. Then you said what needed to be said to the people who needed to hear it. Acting as Captain Bringdown on Faux Newz was not helping anyone on the left.

i voted for obama, worked the past 6 weekends going door to door passing out literature and talking to people on behalf of senator obama and was estatic over his victory, but i also posed the same question to myself many times only worded differently. the clintons and kerry in 2004 moved right of center to kiss right wing and corporate asses. now that we have won, i must pose the question to obama, are you gonna represent the interests of "we the people" or are you going to represent the interests of wall street and corporate america?

Will someone explain what an Uncle Tom or Uncle Sam is. It seems to be silly to debate if he is a Sam or a Tom, because clearly his name is Barack. Assuming he has nieces and nephews he would be an Uncle Barack, right? Maybe I'm missing something. Is this just more hullabaloo about his name being strange? I think President Elect Obama is going to do a nice job no matter what you think of his name.
