Ask A Liberal: Palin's $150,000 Dollar Wardrobe

By Tim Einenkel

Dear Lib,

Why is everybody making such a big deal about Palin’s $150,000 wardrobe?

Yours, Buy 1 Get Half Off the 2nd

Dear Half Off,

Spending more then $200 dollars on an outfit of any type of clothing has always been a ridiculous notion to me. If I am going to spend that much, my clothes should at least be able to wash, dry, iron and fold themselves. I won’t tell you what I expect from a $150,000 dollar outfit but I should stop rambling.

My issue with Palin’s $150,000 wardrobe, is not just that it really shows how elitist she and the rest of the GOP is but that there is so many other cool things you can do with this amount of money:

  • A 1,559-square-foot one-bedroom one-bath converted schoolhouse beside the Ottauquechee River in Bridgewater Corners, VT.
  • Buy a $150,000 electric car prototype, which is faster then any Ferrari or Porsche.
  • The first Mattel, Inc.’s Barbie Doll (Created 1959), valued at $85,000 so you’ll have money left over.
  • A life-size portrait of a Spanish gentleman in armor by El Greco.
  • Become a majority owner in Joe the Plumber’s new plumbing business.

Palin an elitist?

How can you say that when her whole Republican donor wardrobe is only half the price of the single suit Cindy McCain wore at the Republican fuck the little people Convention?

Joe six-packs frequently have $150,000 wardrobes don't they?

Now, now... Let's be fair.

The dress was only about $3,000...

IT WAS THE $280,000 DIAMOND EARRINGS that made it a $300,000 ensemble.

=======================

The "tale of the tape", according to Vanity Fair.

Oscar de la Renta dress: $3,000
Chanel J12 White Ceramic Watch: $4,500
Three-carat diamond earrings: $280,000
Four-strand pearl necklace: $11,000–$25,000
Shoes, designer unknown: $600

Total: Between $299,100 and $313,100

Or, one week worth of Republican TV ads in Colorado. Hmmm.

If Sarah normally pays 200 for a regular outfit, that would be a new outfit every day for more than two years.

Is Sarah buying American?

Has anyone checked to see if Sarah's (and family) new wardrobe was made in America? Or was it from one of those Anti-American countries such as France, God forbid? And what about Cindy's wardrobe? How American is hers?

I'm so tired of hearing about the elitism of Obama because he eats arugula. I guess all down home folks eat moose. By the way, what's on McCain's dinner table? And what do they drink? wines, booze? I guess it's BBQ - hot dogs & Bud (sorry, whatever is Cindy's brew), just like Joe the plumber.

To put it politely...

Bullshit.

Those chipmunk cheeks should tell ya...Crash is used to such "down-home" fare as foie gras and Montrachet, just like all those other elitist posers who have the dittos convinced that they are "plain folks."

Here's a cool thing you can

Here's a cool thing you can do with 50,000 dollars: support three mid-Western families for a year. I don't mean give them the money, but give them jobs.

Fifty grand

...is double my base annual wage. Thank Ghu for overtime. It's the only way I survive.
