WHAT’S THE MATTER WITH WASHINGTON?

The bestselling author of What’s the Matter with Kansas?, Thomas Frank, will join Kuby to talk about why Washington is broken. His new book is The Wrecking Crew: How Conservatives Rule. Tune in to find out how a group of Conservatives intent on dismantling government as we know it sought to take over the country … and started destroying it.

TRIALS AND TRIBULATIONS

Yesterday Osama Bin Laden’s driver was convicted of war crimes. Justice served! Or was it? Kuby will explain how the whole trial was rigged, how the system was broken and why it’s a travesty of justice. If you don’t know the details, don’t worry. Kuby’s got ‘em.

There’s one trial that won’t happen. Bruce Ivins’ suicide closes the anthrax case but there’s still a lot to learn. Kuby will sort through the fascinating detective story of how the FBI identified Ivans. Here’s a hint, it had a lot to do with his radical right wing politics. Also, was the FBI too harsh in their investigation? Might they have driven an innocent man to suicide?

OLYMPIC ANTICIPATION

Bush gave a speech hitting China hard in the Bangkok (can you say that on the radio?) just before heading to Beijing. In it he said, "America stands in firm opposition to China's detention of political dissidents, human rights advocates and religious activists." Sure, we’ll address the hypocrisy of Bush touting human rights. But, the more interesting question is about the role of protest in the Olympics.

Should the international gathering of sport and togetherness be a place for politics? Can two weeks of international attention and protest really change China? And what happens to the athletes who get upstaged when the banners and chanting that get headlines talk about Tibet instead of medalists?

THE WAR ON WARS

Today is a grim milestone in Afghanistan. The death toll there reached 500 . To put it in perspective, here is a touching personal story about a Mom who watches her son die, over and over in a recorded news video that captured the tragic moment. She says it brings her closer to him.

Meanwhile, Bushies are still pushing for war with Iran. John Bolton says regime change is what’s needed for stability. That sounds a lot like what Bush and McCain said over and over in the foolhardy march to war with Iraq.

And Condi wants more sanctions on Tehran. Why are they bringing this up now?

Plus, campaign updates, Hillary’s role at the convention, Brett Favre goes to the jets, why eating meat is bad for the planet, the dorm trials of a real life Doogie Howser and much much more.

Marine Propaganda against Obama

I received the email below from a former Marine. It has pictures of Obama playing basketball with the soldiers while wearing a USMC t-shirt with the comment below them. The email expresses such hostility. I'd bet that if Collin Powell were running, it would something else, like the fact that his parents were born in Jamaica.
The unspoken subtext of all this criticism is that "hard working white Americans" just can't stand to see a "colored boy" doing better than them.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Even though this isn't illegal or against military regs, who the hell does this moron think he is? You didn't earn it, you don't wear it! I don't care if he already thinks he's the commander in chief, this pisses me off. Sure I'll let my girlfriend or wife wear mine, but she has to sacrifice just as much as I do for my country. He goes on vacation to Berlin and tells the world how he will fix America, how he'll give us a better image for the poor, abandoned refuges when we come to liberate them. I think the Germans already have an image of us, it's
"Teufel hunden"

"Devil Dogs!"

Send this to your true brothers, your fellow Marines.
Oo-rah and Semper Fi!

how about 6 or 666 months

Since Osama's driver was going to be held indefinitely because he has been branded with the scarlet letters " enemy combatant", why not just sentence him to 6 months instead of 66.
how about 666 months? more appropriate for this kangaroo court.
