Are you afraid? Well you probably don’t need to be as afraid
as are. Daniel Gardner is the author
The
Science of Fear: Why We Fear the Things We Shouldn't--and Put Ourselves in
Greater Danger, and he’s going to tell us why our primitive response to
fear causes us problems in today’s modern world.
You might not know it from the media coverage, but John McCain has made no fewer than 61 flip-flops (aka refinements) on policy positions. Here’s the list. The latest of these is a “clarification” on his statement that gays should not be able to adopt. We want to find out why his 180s aren’t skewered and lampooned in the media half as much as Barack Obama’s “refine” comments. Eric Boehlert of Media Matters has a theory or two to explain this phenomenon.
Today’s McCain untruth – from a surrogate as usual – is that there is no wildlife in ANWR. Ok, let’s pause here and spell out what ANWR stands for: Arctic National WILDLIFE Refuge. Man, do they really want to drill for oil everywhere they can.
Plus, green speed dating, more news from the Courts on the fate of gitmo detainees, a Bush related bribery scandal, bank runs, a ban on baggy pants and much, much more …

"All White people???."
I am White - I am middle aged - I live in a RED state - I am a progressive. I have MANY close relationships with Americans of African descent.
All white people don't think or say any one thing and neither do black people.
You've obviously never lived in a predominently black community - I have - and now live in a predominently white one - I can tell you this; Stupid black folks are just as stupid as stupid white people.
Hard working self motivated black folks have as much opportunity as hard working self motivated white folks. Lazy shiftless ignorant black folks are as doomed to failure as lazy shiftless ignorant white folks.
I can't go into a Popeyes chicken in Oakland CA without being hasseld by some ignorant black dude and my black brother can't hang out with me here in rural Tennessee without getting the stink eye from every ignorant red neck in eye shot.
Please shut up - you only make it worse - I know you wanted Hillary to win - but Barack is our guy and he knows what he is doing -
Thanks!

By joewhitemusicJuly 16, 2008 - 3:43pmKuby...GOOGLE "OPERATION MOCKINGBIRD" CIA bragged in '05
about how successful this operation on the media was. They have bribed, bought or blackmailed every MSM operation in America. Reporter's jobs depend on their cooperation. You claim it is "conspiratorial" to suggest that there is a united agenda by the press to (obviously) push the GOP agenda and to give McCain a pass while hitting Obama with as much scrutiny as can be mustered.
Obviously even the CIA director bragging about what a success this operation mocking bird has become, especially since media ownership is now in the hands of so few people, is not enough to get you to open your eyes. You dismiss it so glibly and once again demonstrate how, in spite of being ill informed, your "opinion" must be correct. The media's agenda is as plain as the nose on your face with evidence of their propaganda complicity blaring daily in your ears and you refuse to recognize the obvious but rather claim 'you just don't understand' or 'you just don't get it'.
The only way to not know is to not want to know. It's like believing that OBL is alive when his death is also obvious...one only needs to google or search for the info. Is the only thing you read your opinions coming out of other people's mouths? It's a good thing your heart shines through and reveals you as a beautiful person or I wouldn't even bother to point out the discrepancies of your "national voice". Right now I love ya' like a brother...just not one of mine.

By bjobottsJuly 16, 2008 - 4:27pmDefine "Drunk". If he's an alcoholic then legally drunk is ...
normal. It rids ones of the shakes and actually brings them back to normal for an alcoholic. They are used to this blood level of alcohol and don't respond the way non alcoholic drunks respond. It's all relative to the cop in this situation...what is "normal" for him personally and cannot be broadly interpreted. Cops are high on the list of jobs who have a high incidence of alcoholics.

By bjobottsJuly 16, 2008 - 5:31pmdrinking and shooting
I believe it is crazy when people make laws that drinking and shooting (or drinking and driving)m, MAKE THE DRINKER ALWAYS WRONG..
I understand drinking and doing anything dangerous is a problem.. Possibly they expected the cop to bow out if he knew he had been drinking.. Just as a driver should know to not drive.. So in the long run I do believe there should be some penalty for either of these things (to drive home this point)..
But when a drinking cop saves people (this case), I do not believe there should be a penalty.. Because this is saying if you had a drink, you are in the wrong, no matter what.. If the cop had shot someone by accident.. It should be decided by his peers (in some kind of cop court).. Most people can function just fine with one or two drinks, but many cannot.. All these circumstances would need to come out..
