the noon show was on basically nonethe 3 pm show was on a few, but also not too many. AAR never did a good job syndicating.

Noon: WOIC SouthCarolina, WINI Illionois

3PM: KJFK in Reno, WWRL in NYC, KMNY in Dallas, KKZN in denver, WINZ in miami )till it flipped_, that one in northern california i forgot what it was, KBAI in Washington, and KTRC in santa fe.

so don't ya think they shoulda just kept it at 3??? however, some of those stations may have switched to rhodes. but sitll, wwrl and kmny among others were keepin the comrade

How many affiliates was Doing Time on?

Hurry the F UP AAR andbring Kuby back. Buy some radio stations tooo. (How the fuck did Ed Schultz glomm onto the so-called AAR flagship in the first place. This started a chain reaction.)

Kuby always signs off byKuby always signs off by saying he will be "back tomorrow unless something really good or really bad happens".

This would fall in the latter category

Was so happy to re-find Kuby, now lost him again?C'mOn. No warning, no explanation, just poof. That's wrong. I miss Kuby already.

And why play Montel twice every workday? That makes no sense. And Rachel is too early ... I just can't get into a groove with you guys.

Somebody's not thinking about the listeners in there.

africa_3 June 25, 2009 - 12:37pmI guess we will have to wait and see what develops for Ron Kuby, but I too hope they bring him back.

I agree about Rhodes, I have very mixed feeling about Randi. Whereas I used to tune into her show at times, I found her (towards the end of her time here on AAR) to be out of whack and hard to listen to amid all of the what I consider to be nasty retorts and excess braggadocio.

However, I have read from some of the regulars here whom I respect, that she has calmed down considerably, has changed her tone a bit and has gotten interesting once again. I hope this is true, but can't confirm it for I haven't listened to her in quite a long time.

As for Janeane; boy do I hope they bring her back despite whomever else they have lined up...now that woman can talk!

disappointedI was sorely disappointed to see that Ron Kuby is off air, for awhile at least. He and Lionel kept my day going. Now that Lionel is back very early though I will still continue to listen, through podcast. Hopefully Ron will be back on soon, however currently the only spot open would be in the 6pm-9pm spot where Ron Reagan's slot is. If they cut Ron Reagan who is my favorite right now, I will just drop air america. Honestly, I used to be a fan of Randi Rhoades but dont like her style anymore. She is rude to her guests and goes on rants at times, it can get childish. I am not happy to see her back and if they dump Ron Reagan even if it is for Kuby, I'm done. Montel is okay but Sylvia Browne is boring, I want to hear about politics not whether people are going to get a jog or keep their husbands. WTF?! I dont recognize Air America anymore, I'd rather see them bring back Janine Garofolo than Randi Rhoades, wish they would have taken a survey before they imposed that on us again.

katmckeane June 25, 2009 - 1:05amI have already contacted AAR about that very issue and recommend that you or anyone else who wants Ron back, contact them directly. I'm not so certain that the AAR management reads these threads as they have monitors to do just that and I don't think they handle that end of things.

So, if you really want to be heard, I think it might be best to contact their customer service people just to make sure they get the message.

please bring ron back!ron's show is the only show i listen to daily, without fail on aar. i listen by podcast so unfortunately i can't call in, but i love him and his team. they're quirky and funny and often make me rethink my positions on issues. listening to them helped me thru a few hours of work, making time fly. im not sure if i will continue with my membership without him; first rachel and now ron--im not sure its worth it. pleeease find another spot for him!

24.
ciecplee

lemmie get this straigh jaf...you don't like the fact that Ronald Reagan may have been a decent person despite his shitty presidency? c'mon/

i agree, AAR is nothing but shit now though, unless Lionel can get some affiliates, which he so desprately needs

transparency? For a purportedly progressive media outlet, Air America seems unable to embrace any transparency in its handling of talent. This is far from the first disappearance of a host from the air. Having disconnected from the TV machine, AAR is my source for Rachel Maddow though the 37 minute w/mid conversation endings podcast is a disservice to the best commentator and interviewer in US media today. David Bender signed off Sunday for an indeterminate absence. Seder is MIA from the Break Room. Montel is a blunder rivaling the disaster that was Jerry Springer's show. Ron Regan is pleasant and occasionally engaging, but I cannot tolerate his occasional references to his father as 'a basically decent person'. Ronald Regan the Elder was The Butcher of People's Park (look it up) and a thoroughly corrupt public figure ( i refer you to his giveaway to MCA as the SAG President and William Greider's excellent piece on the financial underpinning of Regan's political career in Rolling Stone many years ago). At least Maron, possibly the least prepared radio host in America, still makes me laugh.

So...Is Ron Kuby working on a new show? I wonder where it will go. Which time slot?

21.
Phannie

Agreed ciecpleeHe really really does

20.
ciecplee

poor comradehe deserves better than this

19.
ciecplee

his name is Bill Hesshe's a first class cock-sucker. air america should discard him at once. i don't mean fire him, i mean throw him in a dumpster

18.
ciecplee

that's what i meantit's a good show, yall should check it out. the comrade stops by fairly often, and i think chris rosen from doing time is gonna be on the show thursday or next week, i forgot which day they said

17.
Helga

I have to think Kuby knewI have to think Kuby knew this was not going to last he was forever saying he might or might not be back the next day. At least he didn't have 3 hours of that psychic, Sylvia Brown, think that is her name. 3 hours of her is outrageous. Air America is suppose to talk politics. 6 hours of Montel a day is 6 hours too many.
Whoever is doing the programming really has $%^&* for brains.

16.
icewater

Great.I don't know what's going on, I don't know who's at fault, I don't know when/if we're going to hear Kuby again. All I know is that, once again, another program with excellent, entertaining staff chemistry has gone down the shitter.

Anyone know the real story, beyond the Pravda-like non-explanation AAR sent out?

sakkela June 23, 2009 - 8:08pmIf you read my post below, you can see the email that AAR sent to me (and everyone else who is on their mailing list) regarding Ron Kuby and Jack Rice.

It appears that they have given Ron's time slot over to Jack Rice but are keeping Ron active and are currently trying to assess where it might be best to air his show. Please read a copy of the email below for the actual details as my feeble explanation is just that.

WE LOVE KUBYSorry That your company made the on wise decision to first move the show which made it impossible for me to watch / listen to the show live. AAM have now replace the show and i am disapointed. it is sad that you mad those unfortunate choices. I would have i wished that you would have cared about your listeners. I think if you continue this way you will end up losing all support that you have and distroy AAM. I want my kuby back please we love his show.

5-of-5 June 23, 2009 - 1:15pm Please refer to my response above (Polly Tics June 23, 2009 - 7:00pm) for a complete rundown as to the airings of both Ron Kuby and Jack Rice. It appears AAR is keeping Ron around and is considering the next step for his show.

10.
PollyTics

Here is a copy of an email I received from AAR today... It concerns Ron Kuby and Jack Rice. Monday, June 22nd was the final edition of "Doin' Time With Ron Kuby" in its current incarnation. Ron remains a member of the Air America family as we discuss his future role. His - and his team's - hard work over these last many months is most appreciated. You can continue to access Ron's show clips and podcasts at www.airamerica.com/ondemand.
Jack Rice - who launched "Live In Washington" on our DC station last week - will move his show into the 12-3pm ET slot effective today, Tuesday, June 23rd.
Thanks for your continued support and please let us know if you have any questions. Please use this form to contact us: http://airamerica.com/contact Hope this helps clear up the confusion.

Wiki RumorOn May 18th, 2009, Air America moved Doing Time to the noon-3 PM slot previously vaccated by Thom Hartmann. The switch effectively took the show off all of its affiliates, as all progressive talk outlets go with Thom Hartmann or Ed Schultz in that timeslot. Air America's decision to move the show angered the show's fans greatly, as the show changed forever. Due to the show's now nonexistent affiliate base, the amount of phone calls that helped make the show what it once was dwindled. It's rumored that Air America will discontinue the show in the near future.
--wikipedia--

I don't know how much credence to put in this statement. Shortage of affiliates is a problem for the progressive side. There needs to be more. (How many stations carry Doing Time?" KPOJ runs it on Sunday.)

6.
NickyRose

Where is he?Ron Kuby's show is still listed on the site (otherwise I could not be writing this post). This makes me think that today's absence was due to an emergency of the last minute sort. Radio talent is erased when there is a permanent separation. Malloy. etal. I sure hope he is back on tomorrow. I stream this show from the west coast.

5.
ciecplee

kristen myou were the last listener left, too

i would presume that air america is only weeks away from shutting down. they just have nothing goin for 'em whatsoever

4.
ciecplee

AIR AMERICAaar, aam or whatever it is can go fuck itself. they just are so bad at everything they do. let dial global and those that know what they're doin run things. you fucked up by movin the comrade to noon in the first place.

notice that the shows on actual stations (i.e. Thom ed stephanie randi etc) are ALL not affiliated with air america??

3.
jamieob256

Ron, Where Are You?Did AAR make another bonehead move and get rid of Ron Kuby? His show was one of only three that I like (the others are the "Ron Reagan Show" and "Ring of Fire"). Ron has a Bernie Madoff post on Huffington Post, which he posted at about 7:30 this morning. No mention was made that he was fired or anything. I did a search of news articles and didn't find anything. It's almost as if Ron Kuby just vanished. Maybe he was renditioned to a secret prison somewhere?

What the F#@k are you guys doing?I’m in the Midwest so Lionel is on too early. Montel has psychics on the air, what the hell is that. And now you have gotten rid of Ron. That’s it. I now officially have no reason to listen to you. Jack Rice is fine and all but not at Ron’s expense. I am sick of you and will find a new station.
Good bye
Kristin M.

Where is the show?I tried to listen to the show today and it was replaced with the Jack Rice Show. Is Ron Kuby on a different station?
