Forget the White House vs. Fox News. Today's newest media war is being waged with Fox News, but this time the enemy is Sesame Street and its puppets.

On a two-year-old episode of Sesame Street aired last night, Oscar the Grouch starts his own news network: GNN (Grouchy News Network). After an interview featuring two puppets who appear to be the king and queen of a foreign, albeit English-speaking country, an angry (puppet) viewer calls in to complain about all the "hugging and kissing."

The damning line: "That is it. I am changing the channel. From now on, I'm watching Pox News--now there's a trashy news show."

WATCH:

Perhaps predictably, an anonymous blogger named "Stage Right" over on Andrew Breitbart's Big Hollywood blog is not happy. In one of his more dramatic paragraphs, he writes:

The message is clear, I can’t even sit my kids in front of “Sesame Street” without having to worry about the Left attempting to undermine my authority. And don’t tell me, “If you don’t like it change the channel.”  There are no channels left! It’s everywhere. Just last week I had Obama’s service and volunteerism promoted on every single major network, including Disney and Nickelodeon

It's almost so extreme as to be a satire, except, well, it's not.

At the very least, happy 40th anniversary, Sesame Street!

I only wish that the HEADLINE FOR THIS THREAD had more to do with the actual content. The video on Michelle's issue of eating right, is the true focus of this piece.

It's about the struggles of our families eating in a beneficial manner rather than going for the easy (and much more expensive) "fast food" options.

It's about looking at what we do daily and reevaluating them in lieu of our collective health.

It's about the importance of mentoring and how critical communication is within our families. And finally,

It's all about fresh food that is good for our bodies, overall health and the benefit of looking toward doing better for us all and not whatever Oscar the Grouch may have to say about Faux Noise...

Come on AAR, I know you can do better than this.

One might tell Andrew Breitbart that putting his kid in front of the television isn't good for the child in the first place, regardless of the perceived "Left" or "Right" content. His assumption that television is a babysitter or purveyor of values is naive and ignorant, at best.

How about we play with our kids instead of plopping them in front of the television? The family values and memories you'll create will mean more to your kid than your blog posts.
