I cannot believe that you are discussing such a load of BS as numerology. Numerology has as much scientific basis as Creationism. Numerology uses a base 10 Hindu-Arabic numeral system which was not adopted in Persia until 825. It introduced to Europe in the early 13th century by Leonardo Fibonacci. Using a base 10 system is arbitrary due to that humans have 10 fingers. Dates are also arbitrary: What determines when the first day of the year is? What determines how many days are in a month? Hey! I was born on April 30, but if there hadn't been a February 29 that year, it would have been on May 1.

Hey! Stay away from this new age BS that has no scientific basics! You need to listen to James Randi.

I don't know where to put this, but I wanted to thank you, Mr Greene, for addressing last night the fact that the sentence "America is the greatest country" is arrogant and sounding stupid. I loved your analogy with the family members. You can't pick up one as being the greatest! And nobody can decide that one country is the greatest, unless they grew up in all the countries in the world.

Seen from Europe (I'm French), this is this arrogance that people can resent America for. I lived for two years in US, and loved it. There are many points that I find great in US. And there are many points I love about my country. And since my family, my friends and my cultural background are in France, this is for me the best country to live in. With emphasizing on "for me". I wouldn't claim it's the best country for just anybody in the world. You explained this point really well.

Callers explained America was the best country in the world because of freedom of speech, freedom of religion and so on... as if it were the only country that offers this. This is actually even insulting for other countries.

I also loved that you made the comparison with the nazi regime in the 1930's. Because in Europe we've "been there, done that", patriotism and nationalism are not positive values, and this is something actually worrying about America right now. Right-wingers seem to have this paranoid attitude that the rest of the world is attacking their freedoms. Freedom to drive their cars as much as they want, freedom to possess a gun to defend themselves, freedom to eat their steak, ... with no consideration for the rest of the world and the environment, and freedom to go to war to protect themselves, deciding unilaterally which country can be attacked.

The sentence "America is the greatest country", heard by Europeans, is not only insulting and arrogant, it's also scary...

Yeah Herb, keep Richard in line. He is an elitist and you balance him. He treats you poorly while you constantly bow to him. He can be a flake about things and I love that you call him to task.
