America Wakes Up With Lionel!

"After The Rabid Right Opened The Floodgates, They Lose" (AUDIO)

Wednesday November 4, 2009 11:27 a.m.

Lionel dissects the NY-23 election. The Hill Country surprise was a shock to the red meat right radicals of rabidity. Republican Dede Scozzafava suspended her campaign and, to the horrors of Newt and his brethren, endorsed the Democrat Bill Owens. Who won. Horror of horrors! Conservative party candidate Doug Hoffman, who was the choice of Palin, Limbaugh, Beck and that other guy, lost. There hasn't been a Democrat in that neck of the woods since the Civil War. What this means is that the internecine battles within the GOP are heating up and will become even more intense. It also means that the endorsement of the aforementioned means diddly squat even in a district that's been exclusively Republican. Amazing.

This election doesn't mean squat, with exception of NY-23. It's painfully obvious. It's the one race that national teabaggers jumped in and lost.

Just goes to show their arrogance and ignorance. National republicans telling people of a NY district what's good for them. To add insult to injury, Hoffman's not even from the district. Reminds me of when Alan Keyes tried to run for senator in Illinois...

Hey BentCraig - the two governor races were not even close, terrible candidates on the Dem sides. The outcome of those two elections was known before pollilng day. Chris Christie was up 6 points (http://www.nypost.com/p/news/local/christie_takes_slight_lead_o er_TNlvqe3tOZNGDvDp0qHymK), we knew Corzine was toast.

NY23 was the race that was going to be close. That's why it matters, thats why it's more newsworthy. Add in the extra drama of a defecting Republican and a kookie third party conservative candidate, a Dem winning a district that hasn't had the Civial War, and you've got something worth reporting on.

Repubs should think very, very carefully about stirring up the lunatic far right fringe in an effort to do something, anything to get back into power. And once they have thought about it, they should sit down and think about it some more. Why? Because they may be unleashing something that will quickly get out of their control. The NY-23 incident is just the first demonstration of what can happen. Now other repubs are in danger of facing far right challengers in the primaries. Charlie Crist in FL is just one example, as is Carly Fiorina in CA. If they doubt my words, I suggest they look at....Pakistan, of all places. The army and intelligence services believed they could use the Taliban and Al Qaeda in order to put their hand-picked person in charge. Instead, they were the ones that were used, and the result is not only do they not have their person in power, but the country is now a hotbed of violence by the groups they had supported. Be very, very careful in what you stir up, repubs. It may come back to bite you and the rest of the country in the ass in a very nasty way.

It was so nice to see evil shills like Dick Armey and self-promoting religious kooks like Sarah Palin get their testicals handed to them in a bloody paper cup.

First Democrat in New York's 23rd district SINCE THE CIVIL WAR!!!... Thanks Dick!... Thanks Sarah!

Oh, and, uh... Thanks BrentCraig!... Your right-wing kook agenda... Good luck with that.

I guess you don't understand why this one is different do you BrentCraig. This is special because Palin went up there and went, well . . . "rogue" and dissed the Republican candidate in favor of a right wing nut. She caused the party to split and thus caused the moderate Republican the election. Virginia always goes against the sitting prez. and the NJ race was close and that one is difficult because people have the memory of a gnat and actually blame Corzine for the economic situation of the country. I lived in NJ and we had a Dem - Florio, then went Rep - Christie Todd Whitman, NJ is all over the place. What about the Cali race where a very liberal dem won as well.

NY-23 is the election that is important because the Republican Party is splitting now between the moderates and truly "conservative republicans" and the Conservative Party that is simply the Tea Bag people, birthers, and other assorted zealots.

Y'know... I was wondering how Lionel was going to spin this and here you go. "You know those campaigns where the Republicans beat us? Forget 'em! Y'know the one that matters? The one where we won!"

It doesn't get more blindly artisan than this!

I remember the days when Lionel was allegedly "independent!" Even to this day broadcasting on this AirMoscow radio station, he still becomes indignant when anyone even hints at him being a Democrat or ...God forbid!... a liberal! Shouldn't he have been pulling for Hoffman?
