Nutcases come in all faiths. We'll discuss Hasan's killing rampage and compare the condemnation of his actions vis-à-vis faith with those who claimed that right-wing talk radio inspired homicidal rage when a loon shot up a church. Be careful when you make broad brush connections and confuse correlation and cause.

Please take note, POTUS. Dr. Chee Soon Juan is a leader in The Singapore Democratic Party (SDP). President Obama will attend the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit on November 14-15 in Singapore. He will also hold bilateral meetings with Singapore’s leaders.  Last week President Obama welcomed Lee Kuan Yew, former Prime Minister and Singapore’s de facto leader in the Oval Office, calling him one of the legendary figures of Asia in the 20th and 21st Century and someone who helped trigger the Asian economic miracle. Soon Juan would strongly disagree. Singapore is a country with some of the most restrictive laws and policies in the world. Singapore's legal system has been condemned repeatedly by Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch and others. As a result of his opposition Soon Juan has been jailed, bankrupted and often not allowed to leave the country.  Scores of opponents of the ruling People's Action Party (PAP) have also been jailed or sued to bankruptcy by the government. Defamation suits have been used against international reporters to silence them. Amnesty International said of these policies, “This climate continues to stifle freedom of expression, deters the expression of views alternative to those of the ruling People's Action Party and dissuades many Singaporeans from exercising their right to take part in public affairs.”

The Financial Decoder is back. Jill Schlesinger is the Editor-at-Large for CBS MoneyWatch.com. Prior to the launch of MoneyWatch, she was the Chief Investment Officer for an independent investment advisory firm and an options trader on the Commodities Exchange of New York.

Dracula is dead and lunchroom justice. In December 1989, Romanians overthrew dictator Nicolae Ceauşescu, ending more than forty years of Communist totalitarianism. Twenty years later, Romania is a thriving democracy, an economic success, and a  member of NATO and the European Union. What’s the story of the Romanian miracle? We join former United States ambassador to Romania Jim Rosapepe and his wife, award-winning journalist Sheilah Kast, on an amazing tour of an amazing land—beyond Dracula, beyond orphans, beyond Communism, to the vibrant culture, unique history, and 21st Century skills which define modern Romania. Their book is entitled Dracula Is Dead and they join me in a discussion of such. Their website explains such further.
