It's called character!!!!!!!!

For better or worse we are in a time of war. I would rather elect a candidate that understands the horrors of war, then a candidate that has never risked his life for anything. We are not talking about George Bush defending Texas from Oklahoma, or Al Gore working as journalist or even John Kerry on a swift boat. The man was a POW and tortured for 5 long years. You might not understand this concept Lionel, So I will spell it out very clearly. That is called CHARACTER. Now, why don’t you show some RESPECT and not try to diminish his war record.

Your point made...the standard of a war hero has been reduced in this day.

Back in the olde days, you had to do something really heroic to be considered a hero, like save a ship, fly a dangerous mission like Joe Kennedy and/or exchange your life to save many others.

Or like richie cunningham, shot down multiple migs in one day while good olde McSame was in a pow.

For that matter, I wondered what McCain did before he was shot down.
Did he take his A4 in under heavy fire to take our a bridge or fly tight air cover in support of ground troops. If he was shot down in a dogfight, not considered a hero. I better look it up.

Just being a POW doesn't make you a hero. Unless you are Hogan Heros.

Now Gen. Grant was a true Military Civil WAR hero.....yet he is considered by many to be one of the worst presidents in history.

Conclusion:

So being a POW doesn't make you a real military hero.

Even if you are a real "War Hero", it doesn't qualify you to become president and history has spoken on that matter.

FDR didn't have any miltary experience yet he became a great war president and one of the top three presidents in our history.

Now Good old George Washington was truly a great war hero and great president and McSame can not even come close to measuring up to that standard.

McBama is has a far better chance of exceeding the standard that GW has set than McSame has of becoming the next GW ........George Washington.

1. I will agree that John McCain did not exactly receive the medal of honor for his time as a prisoner. But on the flip side, don’t you think the Vietnamese treated the son of the enemy admiral with “extra care”. There is a reason why the guy can’t comb his hair.

2. I’m having a hard time finding anything that Obama has accomplished. I mean seriously what? Aside from a giving a really good speech at the convention a couple of years ago.

3. Anybody is better than GW, he didn’t exactly set the bar high. List of accomplishments($10 trillion deficit, a BS war, $4.50 gas, inflation, devalued dollar, trade deficit……………….I could go on.

4. Does it really matter, because in the end whoever is elected is probably going to be a one term president anyways. Cleaning up the mess that GW made. Why do you think Al Gore didn’t run.

McCain's stories changed.

I remember a report that McCain being a POW was kept a high level government secret during the war. The government was affraid that if North Vietnam found out he was a son of a high ranking Navy Admiral he would be held for ransom. So much for his being offered early release. I also remember him admitting that he told the North Vietnamese every thing he knew about ship movements and aircraft flights. He stated he did this to stop the beatings. How many lives did this cost. When I was in the Navy that would have been a Court Martial charge followed be at least life in the Brig..

He Might Not Be a War Hero

Obama might not be a war hero but he has as much guts as anyone in the military when he is running for president.

Judging by a few comments on just this post alone, there must me many would love to end his campaign in a minute if they had a chance.

Everytime he steps to the stage, Obama puts his life on the line more than any U.S. Presidential candidate so far .

Surely, even glenn would admit that that Obama has the bravery of an Army point man in Vietnam jungle.
