NC, IN, JFK and OTHER LETTERS OF IMPORT

Speech writer and Presidential advisor, Ted Sorensen was at the center of many of the major events of the John F. Kennedy administration. He’s now sharing his that inside view in his book, 'Counselor: A Life at the Edge of History' We’ll find out not just what happened, but why and how the players thought and felt at the time. We leave comparisons to later and current Presidents to you.

Then, to comment on the Indiana and North Carolina primaries, David Wilhelm. He’s the Former DNC Chair, campaign manager for Clinton in '92 and current Obama Supporter. He’s also a super-delegate.

IN THE ENDLESS CAMPAIGN

Obama wins big in NC, Hillary takes Indiana by a hair. Here’s the latest delegate count.

Hillary wins Indiana but the press is using dire metaphors to describe her campaign.

On the ropes and Close to Oblivion … what does that even mean?

Someone should tell Clinton about this doom and gloom, as she has no plans to drop out. Should she? She hasn’t lost yet.

According to one blog someone is telling Clinton she should: Her long time supporter, Wesley Clark, is privately urging Hillary to quit the race.

We won’t hear about this from the candidate herself because, Hillary Clinton canceled all her morning talk show bookings and public appearances today.

What kind of judges would be appointed by the various candidates? John McCain says he likes John Roberts and Sam Alito ... not great news, but at least he didn't say Clarence Thomas.

IN THE MÉLANGE

Federal agents raided the offices of Special Counsel Scott Bloch who is charged with overseeing the protection of whistle blowers. He may have been doing the opposite and cracking down on his own staff.

FOLLOW UP: Here’s a video about the Pentagon correspondent cover-up that Paul Waldman and Lionel discussed on Monday.

After much hubbub over the Indiana law requiring citizens to show ID to vote, 12 nuns denied the right to vote. Not exactly a big story, but nuns tend to make headlines when they do non-religious things.

And much, much more …

Look'n good

Nice cut Lionel.

My name is ...

Barack Hussein Obama, Jr.

It is the name my mother and father gave me.

It is not Brownie, Scooter or good ol straight talk. It is not the same as the names you have heard and you won't get the same frat boy job either.

Ralph Nader as a V.P. for Obama?

What the F@CK?
What was that caller on? (Please send me some if you find out)

Well at least that would guarantee that no one would attempt to assasinate him. No one would even dare.

It's kinda the same stategy that GWB used when he/ the neo-cons picked Dick "Birdshot" Cheney.

Political Powerhouse in Nicknames

Lionel,

I called you once and suggested referring to Michael Mukasey as "Mucko", and you didn't seem to understand why this was such a powerful concept. The use of nicknames in US politics seems to have almost disappeared. There was "Tricky Dick" Nixon but we have seen nothing to compare to the Mafia's John, "Dapper Don" Gotti, or Ronnie "Balloon Head" DeAngelis ...nor to the British Government's Michael "Tarzan" Heseltine, "The Welsh Wizard", "Screaming" Lord Sutch, or Tony "Bambi" Blair. What has happened to us. Are we too proper to use schoolyard derision for politicians when it is well deserved?

The association of a nickname and a person is very powerful. You missed my devious plan for "Mucko"; now don't miss using the appellation --John "Any Train" McCain-- as often as you possibly can.
