This police file photo release on Tuesday, Sept. 15, 2009 by the Morrow, Ga., Police Department shows Troy West. West, 47, of Poulan, Ga. West was indicted Wednesday, Sept. 23, 2009 on felony charges of one count each of aggravated assault, false imprisonment and first-degree cruelty to children. Police allege that West screamed racial slurs as he kicked and punched Tashawnea Hill, in the presence of Hill's 7-year-old daughter, on Sept. 9 outside a Cracker Barrel restaurant in Morrow, about 15 miles south of Atlanta. He also faces two counts each of battery and disorderly conduct. (AP Photo/Morrow Police Department, File)
JONESBORO, Ga. (AP) — A white man charged with attacking a black female Army reservist outside an Atlanta-area restaurant has been released on bond.
Forty-seven-year-old Troy Dale West was freed Wednesday from the Clayton County jail after being granted bond of $320,500.
West was charged last month with battery, disorderly conduct and cruelty to children after police say he screamed racial slurs as he kicked and punched Tashawnea Hill in the presence of Hill's 7-year-old daughter outside a Cracker Barrel restaurant.
Police say West became enraged when Hill told him to be careful after he nearly hit her daughter while opening a door.
West's lawyer, Tony Axam, says Hill threatened and spit on West, prompting the attack. He entered a "not guilty" plea on Tuesday.

Drop him in afghanistan.
Repubs whine about the exploding deficit, but they haven't even seen the start of it. Has anyone ever sat down and made a good estimate of how much ongoing medical care is going to be needed by vets from Iraq and Afghanistan over the next 5 or 6 decades? It's going to be huge. I suppose a future repub administration will find a way to cut their benefits again, while pushing for more military expeditures for equipment that isn't needed, like the F-22 and the Littoral Combat Ship. Of course, by that time, we're going to be a second-tier power, so maybe our need for massive military spending will be reduced by then.
@Uff
C'mon, Uff, don't you know that "support our troops" is just a rallying cry to make liberals feel uncomfortable? After all the Chimp Administration cut veterans beneftis the same day they commited the 4ID to enter Iraq through Kuwait instead of Turkey. And they sent all those reserve troops with no/substandard body armor, leaving families to raise money to properly equip their children and fathers/mothers in Iraq. And they supplied the troops with underarmored Humvees, and did not start the process of improving blast protection until after the normally conservative press screamed about it. Again, our troops were left to scrounge around junkpiles in Iraq to come up with scrap metal suitable for armoring their own vehicles. And they allowed wounded veterans to lie in roach-infested squallid buildings (run by contractors making a killing from our tax money) awaiting discharge after their limbs had been blown off. And they paid companies like Blackwater and Halliburton beaucoup bucks again from our tax dollars, with zero accountability, to provide services to our troops that were either never delivered or overcharged. And they paid some of those contractors 10 times what the troops were paid.
No, support our troops is just a Republican motto used to allow people like Sarah Palin to whip up support for continuing to give our tax money away to rich CEOs in the furtherance of their multi-national agenda.
And yes, conservative appreciation for our troops' sacrifices stops when they cease to be battle-ready. Ship 'em home in pieces, leave them in the dive at Walter Reed, then discharge 'em with conditions that are no longer covered under GI benefits (PTSD, head injuries) and classify their crippling injuries as "minimal" in order to assure that we can make our next payment to Halliburton to enrich Dick Cheney's golden parachute.
She's good enough to lay her life on the line for our country, but not good enough to be shown respect, even when the dolt almost hurt her daughter with the restaurant door? I guess "support the troops" for this guy is limited to white rednecks like him.
But he looks so lovable.
