Report: Britain Hid Bandar Payments from Int'l Watchdog Group

News:
The Guardian is reporting that Britain's Attorney General pressured British investigators to conceal from an international watchdog group nearly $2 billion in payments from British defense contractor BAE to Saudi Arabia's Prince Bandar. When asked about the situation, Tony Blair stated:

My job is to give advice as to whether that is a sensible thing in circumstances where I don't believe the investigation would have led to anywhere except to the complete wreckage of a vital interest to our country.

BAE is Britain's largest defense contractor.

Thanks as always for your inspirational illuminations. I will never again questions a Wahhabist aristocrat’s god given right to exploit his oppressed peoples' economic conditions with secret weapons payments. I don't care how many 9-11 hijackers you show me. Though, I must say that Prince always did perform well on Meet The Press.

In fifty years this national will be collapsing under the debt George Bush accumulated with the Chinese and historians in Alexandria will have to be writing on water-proof falafel paper.

Btw, if Iraq does fracture into three pieces, who gets the sparsely populated part with the numbered blocks? No way its Syria right?

I hope you're right, and they do prevail, but I don't trust the Republocratic party to ever do the right thing.

Incidentally, none of those three principals are goals or priorities of the Bush crime family.

*Justice: Republicans aided and abetted Saddam throughout the 1980's and sold him the weapons to kill Iranians and poison gas to murder the Kurds. Not a peep of protest under Reagan and Bush I even though it was well known that Saddam was a brutal killer. They considered it a good business deal. Complicity in murder is a better description.

*Freedom is not a goal of the Bush family. That's why they violated the 4th Constitutional Amendment to spy on Americans and deprive us of privacy. That's also why this administration is so secretive. It wants to deny freedom of information. Additionally 70% of Iraqi's want us to leave their country, but Bush talks about a 50 year occupation. Human oppression is a better description than freedom.

*Humanity is not a goal of the Bush administration. Secret terror prisons, Abu Garabe S&M club, raining down thousands of tons of bombs on millions of Iraqis killing 655,000+ innocents, and burning Iraqis with white phosphorus is not humance but murderous.
Ill add one more:

*Democracy. Bush has befriended the Chinese communists and Pakistans Military dictator Musharaf as well as the Saudi Royal Family and Prince Bandit. However, he has been quick to criticize Hugo Chavez who was freely elected, and failed to recognize Hamas which is the choice of the state of Palestine. He has even used tactics to steal two elections here in the USA. Autocratic is a better description of Bush than Democratic.

If our nation servives Bush, then he will be remembered as the Man who made infamy a national priority of the United States.

There's only so creative one can be with accounting. Eventually, and sooner rather than later if there are people actively looking, shady deals and corruption DO surface.

There's some small measure of comfort in knowing the Lapdog is on his way out, and the Oathbreaker is going to have a hard time getting his replacement to kowtow.

Is there any REAL question as to who's calling the shots regarding the Middle East? There shouldn't be, not after reading the article. Here's a hint: it's a large, oil-rich country just south of Iraq. Ring any bells?

This stuff was going on long before there was Bush in the White House.

Some of you people talk as if the Saudis wouldn't do any deals without the US. They were doing deals regardless of who was in office, Democrat or Republican. If the Brits don't deal, the French or Germans will. All that matters is cash money and contracts.

Why does this make me mad!? Pace served/spread the Bush lie. He doesn't deserve my pity. But hey, he put in 40 plus years for his country, probably believed the lie at one time, and did what he was told to do like the good little soldier he was/is; only to have them feed him to the wolves the minute he becomes inconvenient. Talk about An Inconvenient Truth! Repubs need to look good and hard at this guy - this is what is in store for them - being chewed up and spit out like so much chewing gum.

As for the Bandar payments - what you want to bet it leads back to Bush/Cheney - shoot, what you want to bet it leads back to the U.S. Treasury?
