Americans.....

Would NEVER do that....

Would they?

Not in this case

It doesn't really matter at this point who it was that attacked. They could be Shi'a, Sunni...or for that matter, al-Qaeda, which has a stake in maintaining the instability of Iraq.

The end result, however, will be the same as it was last time. A ramping up of the factional fighting, and an increase in American deaths as they become even more obvious targets of opportunity for BOTH sides.

If it looks, sounds, smells and walks like a civil war, that's what it should be called. It hasn't been an "insurgency" for around two years now. And US troops have no business in that country in the middle of a civil war.

Time to redeploy, kids. Time to keep any more good Americans from dying for the Oathbreaker's Fernando Poo.

The Iraq occupation: slow grind to nowhere.

Why on earth would anyone

Why on earth would anyone with a brain want to keep our troops in the middle of a civil war, serving only as moving targets? Bring our troops home NOW.

Ok, AA, no topic on Iran supplying weps?

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070613/ap_on_re_eu/iran_taliban;_ylt=AvcOFw...

Iran giving weps to insurgents in Iraq and Afghanistan...I do believe this to be an act of war...

"There's irrefutable evidence the Iranians are now doing this," Undersecretary of State Nicholas Burns said on CNN. "It's certainly coming from the government of Iran. It's coming from the Iranian Revolutionary Guard corps command, which is a basic unit of the Iranian government."

Speaking separately to The Associated Press, Burns said NATO must act to stop the shipments. The Iran-Afghanistan frontier is "a very long border. But the Iranians need to know that we are there and that we're going to oppose this."

an act of war against whom?

The iraqi factions are fighting each other as much as they are fighting us. We DO NOT OWN IRAQ, and our troops should never have been there in the first place. So therefore, and I'm playing devil's advocate here, the Iranians are either supporting freedom fighters to trying to repel invaders and occupiers OR they are supporting their factional section of Islam within Iraq to make sure they come out on top. This last part again means that we need to get the fuck out of there because there is NOTHING we can do about any of this. The Iraqis will continue to fight each other whether we stay or go, we cannot attack Iran without disastrous consequences, and Chimpy refuses to use diplomacy so therefore our options are a bit limited eh?

Is Iran predominantly Shiite or Sunni?

Shi'a

is the official state religion and dialect spoken.

Thanks VI - I wasn't sure.

So now not only are we, but the Saudi's as well, supplying the Sunni's and Iran supplying the Shi'a. The vicious cycle continues.

"Republicans should never skip their meds." P.J. O'Rourke, May 25, 2007, RTWBM

Shi'a is not a dialect, it's

Shi'a is not a dialect, it's a sect of Islam which does not accept the Caliphate. Farsi is the name of the language spoken in Iran and in a part of Afghanistan. Farsi (or Parsi) means Persian.

mea culpa

I know it's a sect of Islam, the source I was looking at to make sure I was right that Iran is Shi'a oriented also had that listed as their dialect.

Maybe there's no story posted because no one believes word number one that comes out of the Bush administration on the subject of weapons? Especially when it comes to the use of "intel" to attack someone ...

Americans have been there and done that.

Submitted by frazzled on June 13, 2007 - 1:33pm. |

Look at the story. It didn't come from the US, it came from NATO.

Time to follow Lieberman's advice, take out Iran's training locations and while there, take out their nuclear ambitions... All can be done with air power...

Lieberman's advice is worthless.

What do you not understand

about the story is all LIES? It is propaganda to start another war! Do your research warmonger.

Is this bull crap like the

Is this bull crap like the last time they were accused of supplying weapons to Iraqis? Weapons with dates in English on them?

Why would Iran arm the Taliban, whom they HATE and who represent the antithesis of Shi'a Islam? The Taliban, who oppressed the Persians and the Shi'as in Afghanistan?

I think this story is a bunch of bull, like WMDs in Iraq, and like the weapons the Americans tried to pawn off on the Iranians. It's a lie created to give us a reason to attack Iran.

"And the question in my mind is how many additional American casualties is Saddam worth? And the answer is not very damned many."

Iran is NOT supplying weapons

it is all lies which you are stupid enough to believe.

is Iran cut'n into the CIA's weapons sale?

Is it time to rapture these fake christians yet?

It's a mirror of the WMD claims for Iraq

The story is intended to incite the US populace to demand military action against Iran, thereby spreading said US military even thinner than it already is...possibly even beyond the breaking point.

It's intended to give the Oathbreaker an excuse to invoke that newly-issued directive whereby he, and he alone, may take complete and total control over all functions of government, thereby forming a dictatorship cloaked in the flag and illuminated by the flames from the burning Constitution.

It's Fernando Poo. And a fnord. Nothing more.

If it comes to pass, I'll be seeking asylum elsewhere. 'Nuff said.

Look at the FACTS here

The US can NOT afford to get involved in yet another military action. Let's try this real slow just to make sure you get it: we don't have the means. No men, no materiel, no logistical support, and arguably most importantly, no support from other nations. It's all been squandered, spent, burned off, thrown away...and all for the Almighty Petro-Dollar.

Indignation is one thing. But in this, common sense MUST rule. The continued existence of the United States as a world power relies on it.

I pray to all that's holy that I'm wrong about this. But all the evidence says I'm right. And that makes me very, very sad for my nation.

And if that happened we would decimate their entire fighting force in one fell swoop. Think we can't? Remember how easily we eliminated Saddams Military? Our air power hasn't even really been tapped in this war. First, they have to MAKE IT INTO the fight, not gonna happen, oh a few tanks will but that is about it...

Um Dude

Comparing Iraq's military at the time to Iran's military of present is like comparing a kitchen knife to an M16. I'm not saying we definitely couldn't win against them, but it would be a lot more bloody and violent than you think. Iran has an AIR FORCE man, they also have MISSILES, TANKS, and much of the same shit we have. So yeh, most likely we could win against their military, but it wouldn't be the cakewalk you're making it out to be. America is NOT invincible.

Besides that, Russia and

Besides that, Russia and China will not sit silently by if we attack Iran. They will attack us.

Hey, I'm not saying it wouldn't be messy and we wouldn’t lose people but it would solve the problem of the Islamic Fundies getting their grubby little hands on a nuke. (For a little while anyway).

As for Russia and China attacking us...Not gonna happen as that would mean MAD. Unlike our enemy (Fanatic Muslims), the Chinese and Russians want to live as much as we do...Hey, the Russians have a score to settle with Islamic Radicals too, remember Beslan?

IMO, in our long term national interest, it seems to have become necessary to end the "Islamic Revolution".... It would be really nice if the Iranian people would do it for us, but I don't think they can/will..

Like the war will last six days, six weeks but doubtful six months?

Yes, everything is simple in your simple, black and white world but know this, we bomb Iran, there will be even MORE hell to pay. And, those soldier's currently in Iraq? They'll be back here ... in pine boxes. And not two or three at a time.

Perhaps you can strap yourself to one of those bombs and tell us how it goes ...

Are you REALLY that clueless?

And here I was starting to think that maybe...just maybe...you were capable of rational thought.

The US attacks Iran, Iran responds in theatre, the US escalates with a tactical nuke or two, China and Russia see it as a threat to their national security and respond with ICBMs (which China still has in plenty), the US retaliates with Minuteman IIIs.

What you're advocating is the initiation of MAD. Nothing less. And I will fight you tooth and nail, if need be, to prevent that.

FNORD!

The Iraq occupation: slow grind to nowhere.

Then provide proof

that Bush did not lie! Why cant you? Provide proof of one thing that Bush lied about. Where are the WMDs that Bush said Saddam had! Why do you not have any proof that Bush did not lie?

I think we just need a little excitement

once in a while.

I get tired of watching all the boring footage of WMD's being transported to destruction zones as well as the footage of WMD destruction itself.

I am also sick of all of those documents showing a undeniable link between Hussein and Al Kaeda in the 9/11 attack being paraded acrossed the evening news.

I can't tell you how sick I am of seeing footage of streets full of flowers thrown at the feet of our soldiers by all of those grateful Iraqis now fully liberated and free to form the government of their choice and do as they wish with their resources.

Once in a while we need action to break the monotony.

If we liked death and destruction...

we would be Bush supporters.

In contrast, everything I've predicted about Iraq has come to pass.

Latest correct prediction: The surge tactic of splitting forces into small groups in neighborhood "Fort Apaches" would dramatically increase U.S. casualties.

IT'S MAGIC! HOW DO I DO IT?!

Watch this! I can do it all day:

Next prediction: In September, Petraeus' report will be a non-committal "glass half full/empty" affair settling absolutely nothing.

Prediction two: In six to nine months, troop reduction will begin (under some assinine cover name). THERE SIMPLY ARE NO MORE TROOPS and no amount of your inane blathering is going to change that.

Prediction three: You will get your wish... We will be in Iraq, in multiple division strength, long after President Shit-For-Brains has slithered off the world stage into perpetual infamy AS THE WORST PRESIDENT IN AMERICAN HISTORY.

Hell, my powers of prognostication (look it up, Contard) are so powerful, I'm changing my name.
