Immigration Bill In Trouble With New GOP Provision

News:

Joel Kaplan, deputy White House chief of staff for policy, said in a conference call with reporters, "Immigration reform is too important to our national security, and to our economic competitiveness and growth in this country, to let this opportunity pass." It now appears that the original immigration bill is in trouble with more and more GOP backers supporting a Republican provision in the immigration bill. The provision would make illegal immigrants return home to their country and apply for legal status there. Sen. Jim DeMint (R-S.C.) said, "The longer this bill hangs out there, the more opposition grows…Every day that goes by, more and more senators realize this is not the right immigration bill for America. It cannot be adequately fixed, and it must be stopped."

Why bot just scrap it

and go with ENFOTCING THE LAWS WE ALREADY HAVE. Return to enforcing the laws against HIRING illegals. These laws used to be enforced, but that ended when the Bush regime came in. The fines and penalties should be increased (what was $1000 in 1986 needs to be $5000 today just to break even) and the addition if jail time for repeat offenders would have a few CEO's and personel directors taking notice.

If workers cannot find jobs THEY WILL NOT COME!!!

"These laws used to be

"These laws used to be enforced, but that ended when the Bush regime came in."

Oh bullcrap, so all 12 million came here after Bush took office? Immigration law was strictly enforced under Clinton or G.H.W. Bush? What a load of crap. But other than that, I agree.

oscon

I think his point was that a problem that already existed (ie tons of illegal immigrants in this country) has only gotten worse under the Bush Administration (like so many other problems) because of things he has done. No one here is batshit crazy enought to think there were no illegal immigrants here before Bush took office, so CALM DOWN.

He didn't say that the

He didn't say that the problem already existed though, he said that immigration laws were enforced until Bush took office which is clearly bullcrap. It amazes me how you guys make excuses for each other's bullcrap and lies, "well what he meant was", "I think what he was trying to say", A.K.A. BULLCRAP. Bush needs to stop acting like a lib with the border, build the damn fence and throw the illegals out, one by one if it takes 50 years. Breaking the law should not be a path to citizenship.

The problem has always existed

But this administration, instead of stepping up the enforcement of a problem whose effects were felt more so with the sagging economy under Bush, they encouraged employers to flout the law.

"whose effects were felt

"whose effects were felt more so with the sagging economy under Bush"

LOL, I'm done with you, this statement just proves you are a moron that will believe anything that moveon.org and uncle Soros tells you to believe. Reality is kinda nice, you should give it a try sometime.

Reality?

Are you talking about the "reality" the majority of the world accepts, or the "reality" Darth is trying to push off on America? The evidence says yours is the latter, not the former...and that's a reality sane people reject, in favor of the one everyone else in the world accepts.

Give THAT a try sometime. If you can stand being in the light of FACTS.

VERY angry and NO patience. Take a valium, oxycodine SOMETHING to calm down Mr. Man.

You're problem is is that you only see what you want to see. You - in typical freeper fashion - just take parts of the entire post and focus on those areas which don't agree with you; you fail to take the entire message in it's proper context. Sorry pal, but sometimes, things can't be summed up for you in a 30 second soundbyte. Pay attention, read the whole thing instead of getting on the very old and boring "Clinton bandwagon".

Yes, reality is VERY nice ... once you take off those rose-colored glasses, things look even better.

Now, as far as enforcement - ALL previous administrations have failed. However, you conveniently ignore the FACT that fines levied against companies hiring illegals has dropped since Chimpy's been in office; you cannot change the FACT that our borders - ESPECIALLY IN A POST-9/11 WORLD - are STILL wide open. Why is it so hard for you to understand that not only have previous administrations fucked up, but Chimpy - YOUR PRESIDENT ON 9/11 - STILL is fucking up?

Breaking the law

should not be a path to citizenship, but it's OK as a path to profit?

Should illegal welfare cheats (51%) be granted Citizenship?

We must not reward illegals with citizenship. They are not here legally, they must return to their natural homes and families in Mexico, Guatamala and other countries. Over 51% are bilking our welfare system and dragging down the quality of our country. See the link below for statistics.

If the USA is to remain a sovereign nation and not merely an "American Region" for vagrant illegals to plunder as they please, we must enforce our laws to punish employers who hire illegals and simultaneously deport the illegals.

Fellow Americans, we can do this and we must if our nation is to be a nation for the future. City by city, state by state employer by employer we must return to Law & Order if we have any hope of preserving our nation for our future and our children's future.

There are many naysayers and illegal apologists who love to claim "it can't be done" but I assure you we can reclaim America for Americans if we act in this year 2007.

Here's a possible plan to achieve National Security:

1:Station our National Guard on our southern border. They are charterd to protect our country from harm including an alien invasion. They are granted the use of deadly force to protect the homeland.
2:Build the wall. Brick by brick. Use electric fences and razor wire. Monitor the fence with cameras and guards
3:Give illegals 30 day warning notice to pack up and leave the country immediately. THose staying on and defying the people will be forcibly deported and their possessions seized.
4:Strip citizenship from children of illegals. Child citizenship reverts to their natural country of their parents.
5:Require English as the Official language of the USA. Businesses offering services in Spanish will be fined.
6:Haul employers into court. There must be nonrepealable fines for each infraction $10,000.00 per illegal employee.
7:Exempt schools from carrying the burden of free public education for illegals. Since illegals are not legitimate members of the American public and do not pay their fair share of taxes, they should not be allowed to cheat the system.
8:Deny all welfare benefits to illegals. 51% are on the public dole stealing welfare. They are a tremendous and needless burden on the public.Someone has to stand up for America and Americans.

If you love our country and our Constitution, I urge you to join the fight to protect the United States from the alien invasion. If we do not act on our own people's behalf, we must accept being 2nd class citizens in our own country at the mercy of the illegals who will run the show and call the shots for you and your descendents.

They all can be legal as long as they follow some simple rules

They all can be legal as long as they follow some simple rules

1. Must pay a fine whether they want to become a citizen or not
2. Must pay back taxes
3. Must be honest when filling out I-9s cannot use their families where they come from as a deduction. All deductions must have a legit social security number
4. If you just want to work here you cannot bring your family members along with you. You are here to work only not to put a burden on our society.
5. If you are here to work you cannot collect welfare or unemployment. If you lose your job better find another one or go home. Remember you are to work and send money home. I don’t want to support your family wherever you came from
6. If you have a record or are in a gang you automatically go back from wherever you came from, No exceptions.
7. If you want to become a citizen you cannot bring your whole family up here. Only immediate family. Not your ants and uncles and cousins. They must get a visa to visit you and then go back when the visa expires and cannot collect welfare either or attend schools here.
8. If you go to the doctor or emergency room you must pay your bill or automatically go back to your country and your country can pay for your bill.
9. If you come here you must know how to speak English. I don’t have to speak your language to accommodate you. You are in my country and must accommodate me. Learn English before you come here or stay home.
10. You cannot collect welfare until you become a citizen. If you want to be lazy go home and do it, not here.
11. You cannot vote until you become a citizen.

if you have anything to add just post it..

hope you don't think that i am not to harsh

I am a site manager for a clean up compant that clean meat plants and employ hispanics. Until about a year ago when my company started using the pilot program we could not tell if they are illegal or not. We would only make sure that the picture matches them and the signitures matches also. and the obvisouly fake documents, otherwise i have no idea if they are legal or not. you get suspisious when they put 5-9 on their I-9s and get no taxes taken out of their checks but no proof. It really makes me mad when i look at my check and the goverment takes out mnore taxes on one of my checks than my whole crew (12) for the whole year!!! I like the guys but they need to do their part by paying into society like the rest of us.

That's pretty evident considering the number of fines levied against those companies that employ illegals has dropped significantly since Chimpy set up his tent in the Oval Office.

It's also pretty evident that our borders and ports are no more secure now than prior to 9/11.

The fines were never fully enforced under any president. What is "way down" from next to nothing? A little bit less than next to nothing. I noticed your article doesn't say a word about how many fines were actually imposed, or how much they amounted to, or how many companies were targeted, they must have forgot to mention those details. All your source says is "blah, blah, blah, 30% less, blah, blah". No details at all. How tough was Clinton on illegal immigration? How much in fines were actually imposed? The difference is a drop in the bucket. Again, I agree Bush is WAY off on this bill, and nobody in our government seems to give a damn what their employers think of them, but to say "blah, blah, blah, fines are down under Bush, blah, blah" is nothing more than making bullcrap excuses for someone that is just as much to blame.

During the first 5 years of the Bush administration

enforcement of immigration laws was down 30%. and most of that was aimed at the worker rather than the employer.
84% of worksite arrests were employee sweeps as opposed to employer enforcement, which in My view is far more effective and economically more viable.

Immigration has been a problem for YEARS. It's not just Chimpy's fault, but previous administrations as well. However, it is worth noting that it is a fact that enforcement of fines levied against companies employing illegals has dropped significantly since 2000. That's where - in addition to shoring up the borders - our law enforcement should be focusing first.

Yes, they have dropped, they

Yes, they have dropped, they have dropped from almost nothing to a little less than almost nothing. And yes, a 30% drop of almost nothing is A DROP IN THE BUCKET. I don't give a damn who's fault it is, the plain and simple fact is that the people that we elected don't give a damn about what we think of this bill. The last poll I heard put 85% of Americans that knew about the bill as against it. This is democrats and republicans selling their votes, at least it's bi-partisan.

That's unfortunate that you feel even doing a little is nothing. Like I stated in my above post, I have always been of the "better to have a little than nothing at all" school of thought. While Clinton may have done little, Chimpy certainly likes the do nothing at all approach.

"That's unfortunate that you

"That's unfortunate that you feel even doing a little is nothing."

You can go ahead and be happy with Clinton trying to put out a raging house fire with a garden hose and pissed at bush for trying to put it out with a super soaker, I'll go ahead and stay pissed at both. When the house is burned to the ground, what difference will that garden hose really have made? It's really pathetic how you guys play silly little games with stats to make them say whatever you want them too. While it is true that fines are down 30% under Bush, you never address that the this is 30% of something that was almost nothing to begin with. If I recall correctly, under Clinton there were less than 500 fines imposed on businesses per year for hiring illegal aliens. This is NOTHING compared to the number of companies that hire illegals. The difference between 500 annual fines and doing nothing is A DROP IN THE BUCKET.

Who's president again? I forget ... dude, it's 2007

Clinton hasn't been president for seven years ... GET OVER IT. Jesus H. Christ, Chimpy's had seven years to do something about it! Oh, and wasn't Chimpy president 9/11? How come he still has a post-9/11 mindset when it comes to the border then? Oh, that's right because he's of the "do nothing" school of thought when it comes to securing our borders.

Again, if you were a business owner, would you burn the 30% increase in profits because it's "nothing" in the big scheme of things? HIGHLY unlikely ... you'd be having ORGASMS over that kind of increase and would probably shit an Empire State Building load of bricks if you LOST even 3%! If you're starving, would you rather have a little piece of bread or nothing at all? If you're thirsty, would you rather have a little water or none at all? Pay attention man, it's not brain surgery.

Once again, common sense and reason would state that a little is better than nothing at all. It's obvious these are two attributes lost on you.

I find your extremely convoluted logic pathetic and moronic ... so what's your point?

P.S. - You forgot to blame Clinton's dick. Better brush up on those GOP "blame everyone else" pointers again.

Nice use of fleety flighty words to try to define reality, oscon. I'm sure if someone lost 30% of their blood they wouldn't think it was just a drop in a bucket.

Here's a thought for you all. Remember we were told we "had to fight them over there so we wouldn't have to fight them over here"...? Now the [F]right Wingers are telling us the reason for closing borders is because of the possibility of fighting 'them' over here?

If we look at it "a priori": if the plan was to fight 'them' over there, and the success of that plan was the lack of need to fight 'them' over here... doesn't getting ready to fight 'them' over here (and in a panic too, I might add) mean the fighting 'them' over there was a dismal failure? Just as we hippies and stoners (Bill O'Reilly's evaluation of us) predicted?

Wow. What the Republicans lack in logic, they more than make up for in military ineptitude.

I too am a liberal and I hate this immigration bill! What has been the reasoning for wanting it? Has anyone heard any truth from a Senator the actual reasons for this bill?
I have a point to bring up. If all of these 12 to 20 milion illegals gain legal status-then what happens? In my opinion, they will want their fair share of the pie-equal pay and equal benefits-right? Where did the cheap labor go? They will not have deporation hanging over their heads and will demand more from their employers. Have the corporations even considered this? To solve this little problem we then encourage more "illegals" into this country to fill the void that this new immigration law put in place. Over and over again!

Top Calif GOP Offical: An Illegal Immigrant?

http://www.thenation.com/blogs/campaignmatters?bid=45&pid=208004

Australian-born Michael Kamburowski, the chief operating officer of the California Republican Party, has suddenly resigned following press reports that he was ordered deported 2001 and subsequently did jail time for the matter. He's also suing the government for $5 million.

GOP officials have been left stunned and almost speechless, unable to explain how Kamburowski was recently appointed to the post by state Republican chairman Ron Nehring.

Former White House adviser Steve Schmidt, who ran the re-election campaign for Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger, angrily described the appointment of Kamburowski as "almost a parody of incompetence and malfeasance.''

"Somebody who has been imprisoned, faced deportation, has never worked on a state political campaign ... and who is suing the government for harm inflicted by his deportation order defies description,'' Schmidt said. "The bylaws of the Republican Party invest enormous authority in the position of chief operating officer--and it's clear that this person brings no experience and qualifications to run a state party of the size of California, not to mention the assorted legal issues involved.''

When Kamburowski was named to run the multi-million-dollar finances of the Calif GOP he was a literal unknown with no proven track record as a COO. He had served previously as a registered lobbyist for Americans for Tax Reform and a top operative for the Ronald Reagan Legacy Project, both founded by conservative activist Grover Norquist. Nehring--also a former senior adviser and consultant to Norquist's Washington, DC, operation--worked with Kamburowski at Americans for Tax Reform in the 1990s.

Now it turns out that arriving in the US in 1995, Kamburowski was ordered to leave the US by immigration officials in 2001. Three years later he was imprisoned for nearly a month for refusing the order. Eventually an appeals court overturned the matter, but Kamburowski is now suing the Department of Homeland Security for $5 million.

The government maintains that its agents acted lawfully in executing a valid warrant for Kamburowski's arrest and deportation; a hearing in the civil lawsuit is set for September.

Republican bloggers have been aghast at the revelations. Currently embarked on an anti-immigration crusade, it proves rather embarrassing to find that the party's number-two state official is, himself, an accused illegal immigrant.

Let's cut the crap. Here are the facts.

"Illegal immigrants don't pay taxes" - they're required to pay the same taxes as US citizens, no matter what their immigration status might be. Even undocumented persons who are working "under the table" are expected to file, and may be able to get a "taxpayer identification number' (TIN) from the IRS (apply on IRS form W-7) in order to file the income tax return.

Let's use someone that the pro-business posters will agree with: Alan Greenspan argued that 70% of immigrants arrive in prime working age, already educated and ready to join our workforce. He estimated that these workers will contribute $500 billion toward our social security system over the next 20 years, but we did not have to spend any money educating them.

Half a trillion dollars. And they pick up English as they go along. Anyone in a foreign country picks up some language... I've spent all of five days of my life in Hong Kong, that was nearly ten years ago, and I still remember how to say "ten dollars", "please", "thank you", "cheers" and (of course) "yes/no" in Cantonese.

"Immigrants take our jobs" - bullcrap. The largest wave of immigration to the U.S. since the early 1900s coincided with our lowest national unemployment rate and fastest economic growth. That doesn't sound like too many workers and not enough jobs to me. Sounds like they're doing jobs we Whitey McWhiteingtons don't want to touch. Landscaping in 105 degree heat, washing dishes, working the slaughterhouses...

"They don't want to learn English" - within ten years of arrival, more than 75% of immigrants speak English well; moreover, demand for English classes at the adult level far exceeds supply. Greater than 33% of immigrants are naturalized citizens; given increased immigration in the 1990s, this figure will rise as more legal permanent residents become eligible for naturalization in the coming years. The number of immigrants naturalizing spiked sharply after two events: enactment of immigration and welfare reform laws in 1996, and the terrorist attacks in 2001 (Sources: American Immigration Lawyers Association, "Myths & Facts in the Immigration Debate", 8/14/03. http://www.aila.org/contentViewer.aspx?bc=17,142#section4 ... Simon Romero and Janet Elder, "Hispanics in the US Report Optimism" New York Times, 8/6/03).

"Most of 'em are here illegally" - not according to the Dept. of Homeland Security. Follow the Alan Greenspan link I provided and search for '75% of today' on the page. Around 75% of today's immigrants have legal permanent (immigrant) visas; of the 25% that are undocumented, 40% overstayed temporary (non-immigrant) visas. So we're talking about high-tech workers, students that are young and in love with an American. That means only 3/5ths of 25%, or 15%, of immigrants in the US are here without any prior documentation. Fifteen percent does not equal 'most' no matter how you cut it.

"We need to do this for security" - apart from the point I made earlier that "doing this for security" means we've obviously failed in "fighting 'em over there so we don't have to fight 'em over here", I'd just like to add one point. Most of the 9/11 hijackers were here on legal visas. The key is to get good intelligence, which the current drive to alienate non-whites will harm. If targeted communities of immigrants are afraid to come forward with information because they're treated like pariahs, we could miss the next Atta. And don't say that's me being a wishy-washy Liberal because it was The Cato Institute that published this opinion. Not just some Op-ed piece either ...it was written by Daniel T. Griswold, assistant director of trade policy studies at Cato. His argument came from the stance for letting in more poorly-paid workers, but his sentence stating the problem "is not that we are letting too many people into the United States but that the government is not keeping out the wrong people" shows the deep division in what the Republican Party and its funders want to do on this issue.

Like Black Sabbath's "War Pigs", this is one of those songs that seems to remain timeless, because politicians are either unable or unwilling to learn the lessons of History...and are therefore doomed to repeat them, and drag entire countries along in the wake of their ignorance.

To ShawnGBR

Shawn,

The amount of damage to our country illegals inflict upon the United States is exteme and far underreported. This is an issue of basic fairness and law and order to the American public. The historical data you cited is not applicable to the current wave of invaders.

If you don't think that the 51% who are on the public dole hurts working Americans, look at some of the other statitics here. 28% are double dipping. 35% are taking medicare, 6% apply and receive cash handouts!

http://www.cis.org/articles/2007/welfarerelease.html

In addition to that burden on the public, the bulk of illegals
*Fail to learn English*
*Are unvaccinated and bring diseases with them*
*Get paid in (undeclared cash) so don't pay their fair share in taxes*
*Displace Americans in their jobs while dragging down wages for everyone else.*
*Present a huge security threat with the drugs they bring in and the gangs they form.*
*Overburden are schools and healthcare and social services without paying for their share benefits*
*Will never obey the law if given citizenship. Why? They came here illegally and learned that they could break the law and escape punishment while American citizens pay the taxes and follow the law and keep the whole system afloat. Rewarding illegals with citizenship unequivicly sends a message that they have no responsibilty to pay taxes or follow our laws or learn our language or be responsible members of society.*

If your son or daughter disobeys you and does not do their homework or chores and you reward them for it, should you expect that they will do their chores or homework in the future? I know what a parent would say and the principle is the same for illegals.

If the United States is to remain a nation of citizens following law and order, the illegals must be systematically deported. As Americans we need to begin this process immediately. My earlier post offers a method to start reclaiming our United States for the American people.

Nice xenophobic, right-wing, racist, trash links. Give me a freaking break! I'm sure you can also dig up some stats from similar sites that show that the Jews were a drain on the German economy.

To Guy Fawkes

When I read your baseless retorts that endlessly prostitute the racism charge without any evidence or argument, I understand why-as unsavory as most Republicans are-many Independent voters simply cannot stomach the self-hatred and foaming anti-americanism of the Democratic party and wisely choose to steer clear.

Your tone on so many responses makes it evident that you hate our country, our people, our laws and our Constitution. Fortunately neither the AAR community nor the American public will be fooled by people of your ilk.

The tired quote from H.L.Mencken that you endlessly drag out: "On some great & glorious day the plain folks will reach their hearts desire at last, & the White House will be adorned by a downright moron." is not only an insult to the American public who are far wiser than you, but also to the principles of Democracy.

If that's your low-minded opinion of Democracy, you should'nt vote or complain about any politician. Your Ann Coulteresque style lends nothing of substance to the intelligent debaters of AAR.

My retorts are anything but baseless, which you prove every time you post. You're a one issue, racist, xenophobic fuckwit. The only time you have anything to "contribute" is when you're trying to stir up fear about the "brown invasion" coming from south of the border. White supremacy groups are enjoying dramatic increases in their ranks because of the Chicken Littlesque rants of little Minuteman wannabes like yourself. Chris Simcox & David Duke would be proud to see that their little boy grew up to be such an intolerant little bedwetter. I don't know what "public" you think you're "advocating" for, but I'm reasonably sure it's not the AAR community.

As for my Mencken sig line; do you really think the current resident of the White House is anything less than a downright moron? If so, you have proven beyond a shadow of a doubt that you definetely aren't one of "the intelligent debaters of AAR". That would actually just make you another dipshit lost in the ultra-wise American public of which you speak. I can't believe that you even referred to the "wisdom" of the American public. Do you really believe that, or were you distracted by American Idol & Paris Hilton coverage when you typed that?

On some great & glorious day the plain folks will reach their hearts desire at last, & the White House will be adorned by a downright moron. - H.L. Mencken

To Guy Fawkes

Obviously you didn't read my post very carefully! Again you post no sources and no arguments and only fuss and fume and swear when confronted with the facts.Since you offer no argument or facts, you've helped reinforce my argument. You've fulfilled your duty.

Untold millions getting free education and emergency medical care while they don't pay their fair share in taxes.

Folks, we need to start immediate deportation of illegal aliens and return the United States to a nation of law and order.

Why is the California RNC/GOP #2 man a convicted illegal immigrant from Australia? Another RNC activist was hired from Canada.

Those jobs Americans won't do?

Your team....

Your team....
San Francisco Chronicle Newspaper today, June 24, 2007

Michael Kamburowski, the Australian immigrant hired as a top official in the California Republican Party, was ordered deported in 2001, jailed three years later for visa violations -- and has filed a $5 million wrongful arrest lawsuit against the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, according to U.S. District Court documents.

Kamburowski was named in March to be the chief operating officer of the California GOP. He is responsible for the state party's multimillion-dollar budget and oversees campaign funds and financing for the nation's largest state GOP organization.

As the state GOP's new operating officer, the 35-year-old Kamburowski was handpicked for the post by state Republican Party Chairman Ron Nehring, who became party chief in February.

Kamburowski is a former registered lobbyist for Americans for Tax Reform and a top operative for the Ronald Reagan Legacy Project, both founded by conservative activist Grover Norquist. Nehring -- also a former senior adviser and consultant to Norquist's Washington, D.C., operation -- worked with Kamburowski at Americans for Tax Reform in the 1990s.

News of Kamburowski's troubled immigration past comes on the heels of revelations in The Chronicle earlier this month that the state GOP used a highly sought-after H1B visa to hire another immigrant as a top consultant.

Christopher Matthews, a Canadian citizen with no experience in statewide politics, was hired this month after the California Republican party applied for, and received, an H1B visa specifically to fill the role of "political director,'' according to U.S. Department of Labor data.

In a week in which the immigration bill is being revisited by Congress -- and after Republican presidential candidates and party officials nationwide have called for secure borders and tough enforcement of illegal immigration -- the past immigration troubles of a high-ranking California GOP official has the potential to both endanger Republican fundraising in crucial California, the nation's political ATM, while also handing Democratic opponents ammunition for coming campaigns.

Kamburowski sued the U. S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency and its agents in U.S. District Court in New York in December 2005, charging that he suffered "significant financial hardship" and "severe emotional stress and embarrassment" when immigration officials ordered him deported, detained and imprisoned for visa violations -- actions he claims were illegal, according to court documents on file.

Just a few points.I think its good that you bring up corruption and hypocracy in government. Democratic Government must always answer to the people first and foremost. Those who are guilty of crimes against the public must be held accountable and fined, jailed or both.
More specifically:
I'm not a Republican so he is not a member of "my team".
He should be booted back to Australia unless he is a legal citizen. The man from Canada must be given a bus trip and sent home unless he is here legally.
I've never argued that there are jobs that "Americans won't do".
Illegal labor undercuts unions, destroys American families, and bucks law & order in our country. I always stand up for Americans first because so many here on AAR have disdain for their fellow American citizen while welcoming the alien invader.
Illegals must be deported if we are to maintain US sovereignty.

PublicAdvocate: to maintain US sovereignty....sure...

PRESIDENT BUSH: I will continue to push for reasonable, common-sense immigration policy with the United States Congress. It is an issue with which I have got a lot of familiarity -- after all, I was the governor of this great state for six years and I dealt with this issue a lot, not only with President Fox's predecessors, but with governors of border states -- Mexican border states, Tamaulipas and Nuevo Leon. And I know what -- I know the issue well. And I will continue to call upon Congress to be commonsensical about this issue.
And the basis of the policy is that if there is a job opening which an American won't do, in other words -- and there's a willing worker and a willing employer, that job ought to be filled on a legal basis, no matter where the person comes from. That makes sense. We need a compassionate policy. In other words, if this is in place, someone will be able to come and work from Mexico in the United States, and be able to go home -- back and forth across the border in a legal fashion. That seems to make sense to me. It's a commonsensical way of doing things.
We appreciate the fact that Canada's tar sands are now becoming economical, and we're glad to be able to get the access toward a million barrels a day, headed toward two million barrels a day. And I want to thank -- and that's, by the way, an advantage for open trade; the American people must understand that when there is open trade, it helps solve our energy deficiency.

Pres. Bush signed away our sovereignty to form the North American Union of Canada, the United States, and Mexico. Papers were signed in 2001 and again in Waco, TX in 3/2005.

I will post a small exerpt from Jerome R. Corsi dated 05/24/06:

http://www.humaneventsonline.com/article.php?id=15059

Without announcing his intentions to do so, President Bush has decided to support the creation of a North American Union through a process of governmental regulations, never having to bring the issue before the American people for a clear referendum or vote.

The Bush Administration has decided to "back-door" the creation of a North American Union political entity that would effectively erase our borders with Mexico and Canada and create several super-regional governing bodies that would have jurisdiction over the U.S. Congress and the U.S. Supreme Court.

This analysis has been advanced by economist Miguel Pickard at the Center for Economic and Political Research for Community Action (CIEPAC) in Chiapas, Mexico. Writing for the International Relations Center in New Mexico, Pickard explains how what he calls "NAFTA Plus" is being put in place by political elites in the U.S., Mexico, and Canada, largely without explanation to or understanding by the public in any of the three countries.

Bush SOLD OUT The United States; Phase II
by pb_true on June 6, 2006 - 11:06am.

The North American Union is due to be in place in 2010. There will be no more United States, nor Canada, nor Mexico. We will all use Ameros instead of dollars, and we will all have to have a biometric resident ID.
I do not know how many of you are ready to trash our country, but I have big doubts. This has been planned for 10 yrs now. Papers were signed in 2001, and in 2005. This is why our borders are left wide open. Bush took an oath to uphold and protect our country and Constitution, not to sell us off for the NEW WORLD ORDER.

Boycott Hanes..When almost slave labor is not cheap enough

Winston-Salem's Hanesbrands said Wednesday that it will close nine plants in four countries and lay off about 5,300 workers as it shifts production to cheaper countries and pares down company expenses.

The cuts include about 260 management and administrative jobs in Forsyth County and 70 manufacturing jobs in Statesville.

Most of the job cuts - 4,700 positions - will come at plants in the Dominican Republic and Mexico, though several hundred employees in the United States and Canada also will lose their jobs. The company said it would cut about 350 management and administrative positions worldwide - 90 percent of which are in the United States. Most of those job losses will affect Triad workers.
