Pennslyvania GOTV Weekend Observations
By Fester:
Earlier this week I had been complaining about the low level of visible GOTV activities on the part of both campaigns. This weekend more than made up for that. The following are some personal observations of what I saw in Southwestern Pennsylvania as I drove to and fro.
- Clinton caps off her SW PA campaign with a rally at Pittsburgh's Market Square starting at 11:30 today. That is a couple of blocks from my office, so I'll probably take a long lunch and see a chunk of it.
- Obama's campaign caps off with a rally at the Peterson Event Center tonight at 9:30. I'll be working so I'll have to miss it.
- In the Mon Valley, Hillary Clinton and Beth Hafer (D-candidate for PA-18) dominated the sign war and the supporters on the street corner.
- In SE Allegheny County and NW Allegheny County, Obama dominated the signs. In SE Allegheny County Brian Wall (D-candidate for PA-18) dominated the sign contest.
- Ron Paul won the overall sign war.
- Too many damn phone calls this weekend. I got at least 10 calls, six from the Obama campaign and 4 from the Clinton campaign. Given the nature of the messaging (reminders to vote w/polling location) I think both campaigns have me listed as a probable vote for them. I received no real positive or negative persuasion messages.
- Polls open at 7:00 AM tomorrow, and close at 8:00pm
- For Allegheny County Residents, if you need to find your polling place, the Allegheny County Department of Elections has a neat little tool at their site.
- I'm sticking with my Clinton by 6 prediction, although my error band on that one is non-symetrical and skewed slightly towards a higher Clinton win.

Thanks.
I had misplaced my reading glasses.
