A sad thing happened this weekend
The Kentucky Derby was run and the filly Eight Belles broke her ankles.
I really do not want to use this sad news to make any political point. However last week Hillary Clinton asked people to bet on the filly. She did this based on gender. She wanted to use the filly in the derby as a metaphor for her own political race.
So when I read in the news that the filly had to be euthanized because it broke its ankles I didn't want to equate the tragedy to Clinton's failed attempt at the nomination.
But the metaphor was already there. Clinton put that thought in my head herself and I couldn't help making the connection. It is sad that the analogy is even more appropriate.
Its funny how my mind tries to reject that thought. I guess part of me is thinking that if I accept that analogy then I must be happy on some level that the analogy exists because I do not support Clinton and therefore I must be happy the horse died. That is definitely not the case but I can't stop feeling guilty over recognizing the connection. Strange how the mind works. I just keep reminding myself that it was Clinton herself that tried to attach herself to that horse in some manner.
