McCain prefers troops to never advance to become the middle class
After the Great Depression ended on the strength of war production, the momentum continued to grow ours into an economy that was the envy of the world. That was accomplished in three critical ways: VA loans permitted returning veterans to own homes, the GI Bill allowed them to go to college and vocational schools to boost their careers and incomes, and a war hero - Eisenhower - got the Interstate Highway system passed, a massive project that created a ton of jobs and lowered the cost of transporting goods. Our huge middle class was largely created through these efforts.
So now a different kind of Republican, who performed heroically as a prisoner of war 35 years ago, doesn’t want to extend the same offer to overextended, multiple-tour, exhausted war veterans, because they might leave military service to pursue the American dream? He overlooks the fact that programs like these are also part of the reason new recruits join, so what’s the complaint really about? Only officers get to be middle class but the sergeants and grunts don’t?
Have the value systems of heroes changed that much? Or is this just one guy who’s an exception, defending his comrades in his time of war and telling all future veterans they can just go screw themselves?

McCain didn't need the GI bill.
The McCain GI bill involves having an affair with and eventually marrying a rich bitch so vets can bypass the middle class and have their sugarmomma buy their elections, so maybe one day she can buy the position of first lady.
Why waste your time on a college education if you can marry a rich bitch? Why bother trying to buy a house when your rich bitch will already have 4 different mansions anyways? Who needs to find a job when your rich bitch can buy you a job?
Everyone knows that the reason Americans join the military is because of the enormous salary you can retire off of if you survive. It isn't necessary for potential recruits to think they have any significant benefits when they return home, because they will be payed so well while they are in service. Their families will have to consult a broker just to deal with their enormous incomes.
It's a good thing our troops make 5 times as much as Halliburton hacks, otherwise they may not want to join or stay in the military when they realize they can join Blackwater and make more money, since they have no benefits once they return home.
This McCain brainfart makes as much sense as his take on slave trade agreements. The reason this has not benefitted or has even hurt millions of American is because we can't compete well in the global economy. In other words, Americans aren't willing or can't afford to work for 33 cents an hour with no benefits so a very small group of millionaires can become billionaires.
Maybe McCain can negotiate with the Sunni's in Iran and the Shiites in Saudi Arabia to see if they would contribute to a veterans benefits fund.
