Did Glenn Beck Lose It At The Values Voter Summit? (AUDIO)
Monday September 28, 2009 1:18 p.m.
This week on "The Inside Story," I welcome back Christina Bellantoni of the Washington Times (soon to be of Talking Points Memo) and Jon Henke of The Next Right. Henke explains the different ways you can judge the success of the see-and-be-seen-being-in-favor-of-family-values event of the season, the Value Voters Summit.
Tune in to finally learn the difference between the "God, Guns, and Butter" political cadre and the "Leave Us Alone" coalition. Also up for discussion on the panel this week: If the media wonders whether the president is overexposed in the media, is that question still valid (and when the media asks that question, does it make a sound)?
Henke: People like to be reinforced
Christina: Yes, yes that's true.
In the second half of the show, Ana Marie Cox and James Poniewozik, TV and Media critic for Time, determine why--love him or hate him--Glenn Beck produces exceedingly good television. To what extent does Beck's early career as a talk-radio 'wunderkind' influence his show today? Why is it so much fun to watch and wonder: Is today going to be the day he totally loses it? Also, Glenn Beck and Rachel Maddow have a lot in common when it comes to their television strategy, you'd be surprised.
Poniewozik: He'll cry on the air and draw his power from that.
