The political narrative of Senator Joseph Isadore Lieberman has taken many twists and turns in his career. So it should come as little surprise that he decided to make history in the health care debate -- by killing it. Well, at least promising to kill it if the bill remains in its current state. This bit of strategic leverage-building may make short term sense for the Connecticut Independent, but are there repurcussions coming later down the road?
Can the senator expect to avoid the present and future ire of his caucus or will the opposite come true with more Democrats joining him in blocking a straight ahead vote?

As far as Lieberman maintaining his chair in Homeland Security...the Dems need to find their spine and "THROW THE BUM OUT".
Leiberman is slime and should be tried and convicted of treason and hanged. To John Helsley, talk to the lawyers about tort reform. Very few people actually get much money from these law suits, but the lawyers make millions. The lawyers, insurance compaines, drug manufacturers, and the lobbiests are running this country and running it like a corporation. FOR PROFIT! It is all about the money, and they are acting like the rest of the super rich CEO's. Everyone opposed to public health care is either old and on "socialized medical care" and social security already, or is rich and doesn't give a damn about anyone who isn't. Between the greedy geezers and the "I got mine" wealthy, they are destroying our childrens future.

If you have a conflict of interest (Hadassa Lieberman works for Hill and Knowlton-lobbyists for healthcare and pharmaceuticals), and you are a member of a town council of the smallest town in CT-you would be asked to resign if you voted on this issue. Can you tell me how the highest elected body of officials in the country are allowed to operate this way?

The only way to win the support of Joe Lieberman on the health care bill is to have it include coverage for all Israelis. With Joe Lieberman, it has never been a matter of "ask not what your country can do for you", but rather "ask what your country can do for Israel."

Lieberman is so incredibly pompous and arrogant, it's also so incredibly obvious that he is on the TAKE! (taking bribes that is) but he doesn't care that anybody knows. While Mr. Lieberman fillibusters to keep The Senate from making some sort of effort to curtail health costs and fix the sacred cow of medicare related healthcare-Retired taxpayers,and in effect is only punishing those who suffer,such as myself (frozen income and all),have been notified by our employers that our health care premiums WILL TRIPLE in Jan. BFD you say? Is to me!!!
If you don't trust Lieberman, it's because you don't understand 'long-term' thinking past the end of your nose. Health care needs to have tweaks, tort reform needs to happen (frivolous lawsuits), and caps put on yearly increases...................... but not SOCIALISED MEDICINE !

in the end leiberman was the reason i voted for nader in 2000. i don't trust lieberman, never trusted lieberman and never will trust lieberman. he showed his true colors in the 2008 election cycle by running as an independent after losing the democratic primary, by not only endorsing the republican party ticket from the top down but being a speaker at their convention. there is no doubt in my mind that lieberman was hoping for the vp slot on the republican ticket in 2008. lieberman is self serving and self centered. the dems were fools pres obama included for allowing lieberman to keep his power within the party's caucus.
Lieberman is a perfect example of the lazy,weak minded,money grubbing politicians we have in Washington. How these people get re elected is mind boggling.
Joe Lieberman is a fraud. His supported the Iraq war sent the deficit into the stratosphere but the public option offends his fiscal sensibilities. Basically he's decided that tens of millions of our citizens without health insurance are dispensable. Anyone who opposes the public option is playing God and placing a higher value their financial and physical health and that of the insurance executives and wealthiest in this country over the uninsurable. It's pathetic and I will rejoice in his defeat.
