Maddow Exclusive: Bayh Backs Down From Fillibuster Threat Leaving Lieberman Feeling Lonely (VIDEO)

Another day, another twist in the Joementum-fuled fillibuster fiasco. The latest Senator to weigh in, and just as quickly pull out of the spotlight, is Evan Bayh of Indiana (who we also just found out was a coin flip from becoming VP).
Initially it was reported that the Senator might move to block health reform should it turn out to not be "fiscally responsible." In fact, his quotes on CBS two days ago were interpreted as suggesting a block on any and all debate, much less a straight-up vote.
Any misinterpretations from that earlier reporting were quickly clarified in an exclusive statement made to The Rachel Maddow Show. The Senator's office said " Senator Bayh will support moving forward to a health care debate on the senate floor where he will work hard to address his concerns and craft affordable legislation."
With this move, 'Joe Lonely' currently finds himself in an empty meeting of the Crossover Fillibusterers Club. So where does this leave us? Firedoglake's Jane Hamsher returns to The Rachel Maddow Show with metaphors galore in light of Lieberman's reaffirmation that he will fillibuster any bill with a public option.

Don't be in Awe anymore! McCain is the Biggest A-Hole Ever! Realized, could you only imagine if he won? Forget even about Sarah Palin, what about McCain? But--- what really got me to start changing, was (after) the Election. I noticed how FOX, and other commentators were (Not Letting Go), and Still Criticizing President Obama. Then, Remember when Limbaugh said, " I hope he Fails"? That was it--- I realized, it is Very Unamerican to Wish Failure on your Own U.S. President! I knew, that if President Obama Succeeds, We All Succeed! They Looked Like Sore Losers--- but Now, with the Emerging of the Tea Party Movement--- I find it Unbelievable! They are Trying to Unite, but their groups will wind up Causing Division. I also am speculating that their efforts are going to Fail!
I hope that you are Feeling Better! Yes, get the H1 N1 Vaccine! I will be too. My Ears and Eyes are Perked Open, waiting for the Supply to Roll In. I'm afraid to say, with the Shortage, it may be a "hit or miss thing". As Soon as I hear of a drug store or doctor's office that has it--- I'll run over to get it!, and try not to "Miss out"! I think it will be a horrendous flu season.

TO # 3= Why Do You Feel that Joe Lieberman Could be a Spy for Israel? Because he is Jewish? Because His Wife is Israeli? I am Not Saying that you are Anti-Sematic, but I would (Never Change the Name ) of one of My Jewish Friends, (Jew) somewhere Mixed in the Name.
I am not Jewish, but they are Good People. I've even been to Temple in the past with friends, and they are just wonderful people.
I Agree, he should have Political Consequences if He Will Be the Lone Person to Kill HCR= Does he have Medical Insurance or Pharmo Co. Incentives/ Paybacks? I am Sure.

I haven't been around all that much in the last couple of weeks due to the flu...it has been brutal. But, I am still around now and then and have seen you posting but it wasn't until I saw this last post of yours that I stopped in awe. I don't get it, everything you seemed to say online was pro Democrats and boo-hiss the Republicans...and then you voted for them?
Look, it's not a big deal, we can all vote however we want, it's just that by everything you posted online, that would not have been the choice if I were to have guessed.
Hope you've been well throughout this flu season, don't know about you, but I am getting the shots once they come available, as I am NOT going through this again!

Just have to say= This "Campaign" that Cheney and his Daughter, Liz is on= is for "Prepping" the Next Election. First of all, Where the hell did this chick come from? She came out from no where, and it was Great How Rachel Maddow Showed (ALL) of her Contradictions= about Dover, Iraq and 9-11, etc etc....
But- I bet that a Large Percentage of Republicans that did Vote for McCain were due because of his (Experience). Now, so far, we've had NO Terrorist Attacks in the U.S., Thank God! But- this (Keep America Safe) Campaign is going to Paint the Picture that Either Obama is Not Making the Right Decisions or that he is putting our country at Risk= maybe his Alphganistan Involvement Decisions? I don't know. I think we Should Pull Out altogehter! But it will be along the same lines as, the (Take Back America) Campaign. We'll see what their TV Ads start Showing. It'll probably be Similar to I think, the (Swift Boat) Ads.

Nice Hearing from You! Wondered where you went after the New Blog Appeared! It's kind of a long story,but I'll try and make it short.
I really Wanted Hillary Clinton so BAD, I Can't Tell You! My Dad Filled Out the (Absentee Ballots) Long Before the Election, for Both of Us. He did Fill Out McCain, Unfortunately--- but Did Pick All Democrats across the Board for the Rest.
He did tell me at the time, how he really HESITATED, and after the fact, HE WAS REALLY SORRY HE DID THAT! We were even going to try and retrieve the ballots, but knew it would be impossible to do. It was a BIG MISTAKE, but Thank God, President Obama won!
The Reason= Just Mainly because of Obama's Inexperience in the Senate= He was very Young and New--- and (Bought) into that! I know that you are shocked, but that was the Reason!
About Palin? I just didn't take much stock either way. We Usually Never Hear from the Vice President anyways ( Except now, with Cheney and his daughter, right)? If Palin ever were to Become President (Just in Case if McCain passed away)--- and with his old age--- Yeah, I Agree, that Would Have Been a PROBLEM!
About the Republican Party though=
1. A Lot of the Phone Calls Made= (Many) Republicans said that they were voting for Obama
2. Even a Lot of the Volunteers did not like McCain= they said , " He is Like Another Bob Dole"--- Many wished that he was Not the Candidate
3. It was when I volunteered that day and at the party, I Realized, " What the Hell was I thinking?"
Around this time= I swear, my Dad (In Ft Myers) Started Bugging me to Watch the Rachel Maddow Show. He bugged me a lot about other shows too, like the Food Channel, LOL. When my Dad tells me to do something= I'll do the Exact Opposite!
But when I moved home to Ft. Myers, he was watching Rachel Maddow and Keith Olbermann a lot, and I started too. When I look back on how I was a year ago, compared to now= Yeah, I've really Woke Up and Have Really Changed.
Not by any Inflluence of any Media or anything= really= it's just a bunch of factors combined and you finally start to see the light, I guess. You start Picking up on the Lies, and Realize the "Intimidation" and "Manipulating" Tactics that the Right uses.
For Example, for a Long Time= Hannity Swore over and over again, that there was a "Secret" Video Tape of Michelle Obama in the Same Church Service when Rev. Wright did that infamous sermon. Well, Hannity Never Came up with any video. I could go on and on about this= you get the picture.

Hmm Diana,making me think-it may be that the RNC has cut a deal with the CT Reps. and they will endorse him in 2012, He knows that the CT Dems sure won't after he ran around with McCain, that Palin-thing AND the Rep. underticket. It was probably planned all along.
Remember, when he lost the Dem primary to Lamont, he ran under the "CT formLieberman Party". He will do anything to stay in the senate.
And the reason that I am obsessing over this is that I was a delegate for that traitor at his last CT Dem convention, OMG!
And here it is the highest elected body in the country-where is the ethics commission!! You would be thrown out if you were a Councilperson in the smallest town in CT if there was a conflict of interest like this. (wife employed by health ins. and phama lobby firm).

I am More Furious Over this than I was with Dick Armey, or Prosperity for America, or Even the Tea Parties or Glenn Beck! Lieberman is Pure Scum! He has Business Intentions and Motives in Mind. I am sure that he has Connections or (Campaign Donations) From/ With Pharmaceutical Companies or Medical Insurance Companies. Did you see How Bayh's Wife is on the Board of Directors with Wellpoint?
Sad to say, I'd Love for him to have Consequences or Repercussions because of this, but I Doubt It. When You see Senators like Vitter and Ensign Getting Away with Anything they Want= the Standard is Set= They can do Whatever they Want!

Your comments ARE anti-Semitic. Lieberman is taking this position because he is a regressive slimy politician, not because he is Jewish. Since when are Jews not pro-American, or American enough? Just look at the House and Senate and see the disproportionate amount of the most progressive voices, that by the way were instrumental in negotiating the public option (like Schummer). Ditto the media, academia, etc. Your paranoid view of politics, scapegoating the Other that no matter how much they participate in the political process or cultural life of this country, can never be American enough is so warped, it's not funny. Wait-duh-I figured it out re: LIEbeman!
Rumor is rampant her in CT that the popular dem AG Richard Blumenthal will run againt Joe in 2012.
Joe knows he has no chance and will retire so he cut some kind of deal with Hill and Knowlton (the lobby group that his wife Hadassa works for).
Pay raise, big early retirement package?
That is the only way that corporate $$ he has been pigging out on will continue to flow.
Why else would he cut his own political throat like this (73% CT dems and 63% of all CT voters are for the public option).
These guys are flipping and flopping faster than a McDonald's hamburger. They see the writing on the wall and understand - once they leave their ivory towers in DC that the majority of Americans want health care reform. Joe is just to dumb to see that. I hope the people of his state see how they have been burned by him and send him off to retirement - without health care.
